Great to write with @raawiyah.bsky.social and Calogero Giametta on the realities of LGBTIQA+ asylum following the BBC's deeply misleading and harmful reporting last week.

An absolute pleasure for @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social to host @carladenyer.bsky.social yesterday for our action day. An amazing turnout for some important conversations ahead of elections on May 7th.
Particularly glad to visit the Ultimate Picture Palace and support their campaign to Save the UPP
Huge thank you to @carladenyer.bsky.social for visiting Oxford today to support our local candidates and councillors, alongside meeting campaigners for UPP and Refugee Resource. 💚
Thanks to @left-foot-forward.bsky.social for this chance to respond to the BBC's deeply flawed 'investigation' into the UK asylum system.

Had a lovely time presenting my research on how HIV positive people are represented by media then sitting down to discuss with @matthewhodson.bsky.social for the @thinkhumanfest.bsky.social. Managed to be a very flawed *human* by tripping over and unplugging the clearly marked projector wire twice!!
Thank you so much for coming to Oxford and sharing your thoughts with us, it was brilliant. 🤩
A selfie of the two of us grinning.
With the delightful @maxmorris.bsky.social after joining them in Oxford for a talk on media depictions of HIV.
Ironically the BBC stumbled on a really important story: Desperate asylum seekers being forced to turn to fraudulent fee-charging “advisors” to navigate a system that is intentionally impossibly baroque and from which all sources of free advice have been removed.
But no: they chose Fake Gay Panic.
Final reminder that this event is happening TOMORROW from 5pm in the East Oxford Community Centre. I'll be sharing some reflections on interviews I did with HIV positive people about how we've been (and could be better) represented culturally, followed by a discussion, with refreshments provided! ☕
Actors reading translated excerpts from speeches given by Ukrainian and Russian anti-war protesters such as Darya Kozyreva (pictured on the screen)
Powerful performances at this evening's @thinkhumanfest.bsky.social event, 'Try Me For Treason', where actors read speeches made by anti-war protesters in Russian courts.
Since 2012 the UK has treated all people with HIV, irrespective of nationality or immigration status.
Treatment prevents HIV transmission so it’s good for the health of all of us to have every person with HIV treated.
Farage’s policy would lead to more HIV cases and greater health costs.

BBC News using anecdotal evidence to suggest that there is a "vast problem" of asylum seekers "pretending" to be gay is not "investigative journalism", which is supposed to hold power to account (e.g. looking into the Home Office's flawed processes). This will only stir up hatred towards minorities.
What can I say, I like men with big... wallets! 👀
Really looking forward to our conversation and finally meeting you in person after so many years of online activism and collaboration! 🤩 @thinkhumanfest.bsky.social

HUGE doesn’t even behind to describe it at our 2026 CAMPAIGN LAUNCH!!!
We were thrilled to host by FAR our biggest ever campaign launch. We’re ready to win the most seats and the most votes in these elections. People are ready for change! 💚
Max, Ahalya and Alex holding a "Vote Green" placard
One of my favourite photos from yesterday's @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social campaign and manifesto launch, just as the hail stones started raining down on us! 🌨️🌱☀️
Soon the residents of St Clement's ward will have an opportunity to be represented by two of the best people I know, Ahalya and Alex! ✊💚🤩
My face muscles are still sore from smiling so much.
What an incredible day! What an incredible team of people to turn Oxford Green and make hope normal again.
Huge thank you to Roger Close for the photos.
Green Party launch (credit, Roger Close)
The Green Party has launched its manifesto for the Oxford City Council elections, pledging to build a ‘fairer, greener and more equal city’. They say that the manifesto was written following thousands of doorstep conversations with voters and responds to the big issues that residents have raised.
Great to be in Oxford today supporting Ahalya and the rest of the amazing @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social candidates!
Your job will never love you back, etc. etc.

My mum complimented my makeup skills and asked for advice ahead of her wedding this summer, so that's all the validation I needed thank you very much!
