I look forward to continuing to hear from our Southside neighbors out on the doors, at upcoming meet & greets, and throughout the campaign trail between now and November!
I am so proud to be your newly DFL ENDORSED candidate for Senate District 62! But, our work doesn’t stop here. We’ll keep building people-power and momentum one door at a time, and one conversation at a time.
It was an incredible joy to meet all of you, and speak to you about the legislation that I have been fighting for at the State Capitol. In the Southside, our community always shows up.

Gratitude & Solidarity,
Omar Fateh
We have accomplished so much together in the past 6 years, and I am honored to earn the support of our neighbors once again to continue fighting for the Southside at the State Capitol for another 4 year term.
It is a tremendous honor to represent our community in the Minnesota Legislature. As your State Senator, I’ve taken action to pass big bills that made a real difference in the lives of working Minnesotans.

I am proud to be DFL ENDORSED!
Thank you to today’s Senate District 62 Convention delegates for endorsing me on the first ballot!
SD62 DFLers understand that now, more than ever, we need leaders who won’t fold.
It’s a bill that I’ve been working on for the last three years, because we anticipated long ago that Trump could do the type of terrible things we have seen. Thank you to all the tireless advocates who helped move this bill forward!
I’m really proud that my STAR Act passed through committee yesterday. The Safety, Trust, and Respect Act is a major bill that would hold ICE accountable and prohibit them from sensitive areas like courtrooms, schools, colleges, and healthcare facilities.

I was honored to join MN organizers in Selma, Alabama for the 61st Annual Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee. I was humbled to hear stories from locals and elders that were on the bridge on Bloody Sunday. This was an experience that I will carry with me forever.
We heard testimony from Minnesotans who have been unjustly targeted by ICE, including harassment and wrongful detention. We have witnessed two murders of our neighbors, Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Accountability only exists when there’s a means for it, and this bill creates that.

Today, Senator Champion and I had our bill heard in Judiciary committee to enable Minnesotans to sue for civil and monetary damages for constitutional violations by federal agents. We can’t move on from Operation Metro Surge without allowing those who were harmed to seek justice.
I proudly joined his daughter Santita Jackson on her podcast last year, a movement leader who is carrying forward Rev. Jackson's legacy and our shared mission to grow multi-racial coalitions, and center working people to eventually realize full civil rights in America.
We lost a giant. Rev. Jesse Jackson never stopped fighting for true justice and equality, and he crucially centered economic justice throughout his work. The Rainbow Coalition and his many campaigns paved the way for people like me to stand up and to not only organize — but to lead.
Senator Omar Fateh Statement on ICE Withdrawal From Minnesota SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Senator Omar Fateh (DFL-Minneapolis) released the following statement today after Tom Homan announced the removal of ICE and Border Patrol agents from Minnesota: "ICE agents finally getting out of Minnesota is only the beginning of restoring the rights and livelihoods of people harmed by this invasion. Far too many Minnesotans were unlawfully detained, assaulted, harassed or imprisoned by these masked, unaccountable agents.
In my district, two of us, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were killed. Minnesota is proud of them, and of other community members for standing up to Donald Trump's police state by bearing witness to their crimes and protecting neighbors with time, donations and resources. The effect of ICE chaos in the streets, combined with missing and terrorized people on schools, hospitals and small businesses has been devastating. Next, we need real accountability for the perpetrators and the leaders that sent them here, and help for the Minnesotans they harmed. That means honest investigations into violent crimes committed by ICE agents, passing legislation to empower Minnesotans to sue the agents and agency that wronged them, and reinvesting in communities to stabilize small businesses, household budgets and neighborhoods traumatized by this lawless invasion."
My statement on the ICE withdrawal from Minnesota.
Had a great time meeting all my neighbors at caucus last night and loved hearing so many of our neighbors supporting ICE Out resolutions. Excited to see y’all at convention.

In trying moments—our community always shows up. Attend your precinct caucuses tonight at 7pm. If you live north of Lake Street, your precinct caucus location is South High School. If you live south of Lake Street, you are located at Washburn High School. Be heard. ICE out of MN.
Cannot wait to see you all at the caucuses tomorrow night & send the largest number of ICE Out delegates to the convention.
We must say clearly: Abolish ICE, no more tax dollars funding harm.
If you believe that too, I need you to show up. Dfl.org/caucus
Right now, my campaign is asking you to donate to rent relief and community needs, and not my campaign. Be on the lookout for campaign fundraising later on.
Now more than ever, we need leaders who won’t fold. As your State Senator, I’ve taken action to pass big bills that made a real difference in the lives of working Minnesotans.
In me, you will always have a fighter.
As ICE spreads terror across our state, Southside is showing up for each other & rejecting the politics of hatred.
I’m running for re-election to keep delivering real results for working Minnesotans & the next generation. Fatehfor62.com
