Seven straight wins for the Cubs! I can’t remember a game with more men left on base, but a W is a W.

“I contain multitudes”
Reader: The above commenter will attest that this film has been viewed in full *many* times!
If only to stress the obvious, this is not a win—what he is advocating for is far more dangerous than Trump and looks to be gaining momentum…
To regain my homosexuality, last night was a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie night (Shall We Dance - 1937)
I contain multitudes!
Ringing in the last day of teaching with some Cubs baseball! (and TF Squirrel IPA on tap).
Just phenomenal! Six in a row, fly the W, and play the song!!
I wrote about having my undergrads listen to Reich's 'Music for 18 Musicians' as a class, perceptions of musical time, and the reclaiming of attention. robrankin.substack.com/p/on-music-f...
Happy Saturday
My condolences
A masterclass from Shota, and (finally) an offense to match!
Hmmm must have missed Matt Shaw’s two cents on that Cubs promo about Jackie Robinson…
Color portrait of Jackie Robinson in his right-handed batting stance. (National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum)
Jackie Robinson’s pioneering legacy still resonates throughout the world today.
On the 79th anniversary of his Brooklyn Dodgers debut, we celebrate a Hall of Fame hero whose character and courage inspired generations of athletes to play ball.
Wait until John Curtis finds out he has compared himself to Jesus multiple times!
I doubt that Pope Leo XIV will lose any sleep over this, before he begins his pilgrimage to Africa tomorrow. But the rest of us should. Because it is unhinged, uncharitable and unchristian. Is there no bottom to this moral squalor?
A stressful win at the end of a needlessly stressful series against the Pirates. Hitting just needs to improve, desperately!
In all seriousness, it is terrifying that Orban (ORBAN!!) is more committed to the democratic process than Donald Trump.
It is insane to even suggest that Piker or Rogan, again media figures that mean almost nothing to the vast majority of the country, should be a political litmus test of any kind.
Because of our fractured media environment, these guys have a huge influence on a sizeable but niche base. This base in particular has the memory of goldfish and will ultimately make their voting decisions on-and I cannot stress this enough-the dumbest reasons imaginable.
The notion that we need to constantly chase the cache of profoundly uninformed influences (Rogan, Piker) in order to capture a demographic with the lowest voter turnout (young men) is insane. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/12/o...
I guess as a way to look levelheaded and bipartisan Democrats constantly whitewash the records of objectively horrible republican presidents. You never hear them talk about the morality of Carter, but you constantly hear about Reagan.
Well, maybe next year
A photo of Iranian schoolgirls with the following text: Look at each face...think of the love, hopes, and dreams in your family...and multiply that by 90 million. As American taxpayers, every American bomb that drops has our names on it.
Let's pray that Trump considers the hard and human reality of “collateral damage”...
This should be THE headline everywhere right now! No sugarcoating, no paraphrasing. Just quote him!
If threatening a nuclear holocaust isn’t enough for congressional Republicans to immediately remove Trump from office, I don’t know what will.
