The reason I don't care about all the plot holes on LOST is that these characters are so excellent. Like, Ben Linus?? One of the most interesting characters in all TV imo. I would watch all these characters do whatever

Their pastries are sooooo good. Macarons are what they're known for but I also love the pavlova and truly excellent lemon bars

An infographic. There are six panels.

1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded.

2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text.

3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky.

4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german.

5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say.

6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs.

However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

One of those students of mine died a few years ago. I think about her all the time. It's the weirdest grief because there's nowhere it's really talked about.

Big bright orange lettering in a vaguely graffiti/marker style with big black drop shadow reading ‘Maybe it will happen today’. At the bottom in front of the lettering is a small cartoon turtle with a little hourglass on its back.

A digital illustration of Godzilla silhouetted against a red and orange fire-colored background with his back spines all glowing blue as he blasts nuclear fire at whomever you would most like to have nuclear fire blasted at. Go ahead and make a wish. Jagged lettering on Godzilla’s back and shoulder, also glowing blue, reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’

Graphic that says "Make yourself at home!" Below the text is the Edutopia logomark (an orange circle with "edu" inside), a handshake emoji, and two more circle logomarks clustered together: Principal Project and Teacher2Teacher.

The other times I've watched LOST I never noticed how weird it is that they just...stop looking for Claire?? Like she's 8 months pregnant and kidnapped and you guys just moved on in 12 hours???

A digital illustration somewhat in the manner of a colored engraving. A whaling ship under full sail in rough seas trying to outrun a storm on the horizon behind them. Meanwhile a sperm whale many times the size of the ship and with feathered wings instead of fins flies above the ship with unknown intent. Wide block letters above the whale read ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

A loose digital painting of magnolia blossoms on a branch. They are against a rectangle of sky blue that is itself outlined in a blotty, splattery darker blue outline. Some yellow scripty lettering in the top left corner of the blue reds ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

I think what’s drawing so many people to Artemis II isn’t just the science. It’s the beauty, the poetry, the art, the interconnectedness.

Humanities matter.
