We are so back
Oh, we are so back.
Poet Toi Derricotte reminds us the act of joy in times of oppression is essential to our collective resistance. We can’t wait for you to join us for our car-free celebration, where we’ll experience streets as places to explore, play, and dream.

😭😭😭 a community member just handed this off to a patroller in our neighborhood
While the rider turnout was insane, what you won’t see is how many people came out of their houses to cheer and chant as we went by. Thousands for sure, seemed to be people on the corner of every block we passed
Today was beautiful

Rent is due and families are being pushed to the brink.
In the midst of everything happening right now, immigrant community members are struggling to make ends meet, and the neighbors and organizers stepping in to support them are stretching beyond capacity.
We are going to win.
A group of ten cyclists wearing helmets and cold-weather gear stand together smiling on a bridge, with their bikes in front of them. A city skyline and busy highway are visible in the background under a cloudy sky.
Front and back view of a cream-colored T-shirt. The back has a large blue graphic of a city bus with bicycles and the words “joy ride” in bold text. The front has a small blue logo on the pocket that reads “our streets.”

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short.
It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals.
No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.
Hey… hey YOU!
If you live in MN and want to support our work at @ourstreetsmn.org consider applying to join our Board of Directors!
No prior board experience necessary - we’ll provide the orientation & training you need to jump right in!
Ice Cream Shop coming right across from Hampden Park?!?!? Have seen people working on this building all summer, have been curious what was going on. Very excited to have this in the neighborhood
Underrated part of Gold and B Line openings is how easy it is to get around downtown St. Paul now. Walk from my office to Lost Fox is a little long to squeeze into the workday(30 min round trip), but can usually make it 15 min by hopping on whichever of the B/Green/Gold Line is arriving next.
There's still time to act.
Take action to keep the Twin Cities Boulevard vision alive.

The Hampden Park soups are so good that I couldn’t help getting a bowl when I stopped in, even though it’s 95 degrees outside
Image shows hundreds of cars slowed/stopped on a highway with signage saying “air quality alert consider reducing trips.” Heavy wildfire smoke is in the air.
Our approach to climate change summed up in one photo from @mprnews.org .

Have this video from summer 2023, felt like a scene from a dystopian movie. Was hard to breath biking home and the highway was still busy at like 10pm
Watching multiple grown men walking around downtown Minneapolis in skinny jeans and flip flops in the rain while my 2.5 mile bus ride takes 45 min. Not sure what I did to deserve this, but I’m sorry. Please make it stop.
After a 20 min delay, just watched my bus get caught at the light a block away for two cycles by cars blocking the lane. Good amount of the traffic were giant pickup trucks seemingly on their way to the Post Malone show. Felt like a simulation meant to piss me off as much as possible.
No matter where life takes me, find me with a smile 💛
Biked to rec league hoops again tonight, once again asked “Do you want a ride home?” I know you’re being nice, but good luck taking this away from me
“We need *balanced* roadways designs” says the Uptown Association, in a city with 1,000 miles of streets & just 20 miles of protected bikelanes.
Balance, to them, is forced car dependency & ensuring we all face the increased safety, health, economic & climate risks that entails.

Coworker messaged me today asking where I park my bike at our office, second coworker to do that in the last year or so. The first started bike commuting last summer and loved it. Lesson: bring your bike helmet into every place you bike, it might just plant a seed in someone’s head
Whoever on here posted about the Afro Deli Somali steak sandwich, you’re the best, hope you have a great day. What a sandwich
Today's news choices:
Car crash, car crash, car crash, War on Cars 🤔

When you move around primarily or exclusively by car, you may not notice all of the evidence of car crashes around you:
bent sign posts
broken car pieces
…entire fences destroyed by drivers 😳
For those who travel by 🚶🏻, 🚲, 🦽 & 🚌 these reminders are everywhere.

Traffic evaporation happens every time you narrow roadways or charge tolls, but we still have to convince electeds and planners every single time that it works because they never believe it.
