The image features a large, illuminated spherical sculpture resembling the moon, positioned beside a traditional pagoda-style structure. The scene is set at night, with a dark sky and surrounding trees partially lit by nearby lights. In the background to the right runs a calm dark river. The scene is a pleasant early spring evening.

Representations of those patterns are a part of our cultural history. Canonical patterns of being that are embedded in stories of good and evil, romance, and so on, deeply affect us because they represent what we will act out in the world.

After all, people have coherent, fully developed dreams with a perfect narrative structure. They are fully developed in some sense.

So where does the information in dreams come from? I think it comes from watching the patterns everyone acts out.

The theory that dreams are merely the consequence of random neuronal firing is absolutely absurd, or so it seems to me, because there is nothing random about dreams. Dreams are not like snow on a television screen or static on a radio. Rather, they are structured, complex, and complicated.

I got used to Mastodon and its longer posts. 300 characters is consistently shy of ~500 to post the quotes I’d like to.

That, plus an initially negative impression of the users here, makes it unlikely I’ll want to stay. I guess I’ll keep the account active for now. Hopeful it will someday be nice.

We are in a cut flower civilisation now - the roots have been cut, and people are still relying on the flower. But a flower in a vase will die.

Korean Buddhism divides the ages into three eras:

- 초세 (初世) - The “early era” when religious wisdom is both taught and practiced.

- 중세 (中世) - The “middle era” when wisdom is taught, but rarely practiced.

- 말세 (末世) - The “last era” when wisdom is neither taught nor practiced.

If your opinions on one subject can be predicted from your opinions on another, you may be in the grip of an ideology. When you truly think for yourself, your conclusions will not be predictable.
