This brought isolates from regular water tests together with genomic analysis: we found the same strain circulating over the whole period, and looked at the substitution rates and larger genome changes over time. The strain has not been found elsewhere, and was not associated with any infections.

Genomic analysis of Legionella pneumophila in the drinking water system of a large building over 25 years Legionella pneumophila, the causative agent of Legionnaires’ disease, is often found in the plumbing systems of buildings, from where it can be transmitted to humans via inhalation or aspiration of co...

Have you ever considered what is lurking in our water pipes, where it comes from, whether you can get rid of it, or if you even need to? Just published: our study on Legionella pneumophila, isolated over 25 years from a large building in Basel. doi.org/10.1099/mgen...

Evaluating methods for genome sequencing of Chlamydia trachomatis and other sexually transmitted bacteria directly from clinical swabs Rates of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are rising, and accessing their genomes provides information on strain evolution, circulating strains and encoded antimicrobial resistance (AM...

With love in the air, there is no better time to talk about STIs ;-). I am incredibly proud to present back-to-back papers from my lab, published today in Microbial Genomics.
