But not every demand really is.

Coz I want to do what's right, but when nothing you can do is right, what can you actually do?

I don't really know what to do. Right now the bar is just at "don't support Harry Potter/JK Rowling" which is fine, but the bar is at different heights for different people and it's literally impossible to consistently clear for everyone in modern society.

Factories that work with paper and plastic alike pump noxious chemicals into the water supply and rot the earth.

Even a lot of visual media can be traced to exploitative practices or people who have done absolutely rancid things.

Many plant products are similarly produced under slave or slavelike labor.

A very large amount of farming destroys ecosystems while food waste runs rampant.

Many of the companies everyone buys products from every day for convenience, all lobby for anti-humanitarian laws and bills.

I'm asking this not to be a devils advocate or to be antagonistic, but genuinely out of concern for what would be considered "right": How far down the line does it become unacceptable?

Any store that imports from China or uses Chinese products profits off of what's effectively slave labor.

I do think, however, that despite the ill faith of him simply using it as an excuse to hide behind, he does have a point. EVERYTHING consumable under capitalism feeds into oppression in some way if you dig deep enough.

It's a very valid question to wonder where the line is drawn.

I 100% believe that generally, people should do what they can to avoid supporting things that feed into systematic oppression and the suffering of others. And likewise I do feel like stuff like HP can just go in the dumpster to prevent funding what's effectively domestic terrorism.
