In Germany, a discussion about lazy workers argues that workers are statistically more sick than in other countries. But Germany has one of the longest paid sick leave policies, so these long duration cases raise the average. Cases with 6 weeks+ make up the most paid days.

Wenn man ein wenig Google Ngram recherchiert, sieht man, das der Begriff vorher oft für EE verwendet wurde, also genau entgegengesetzt zur aktuellen politischen Debatte. Eventuell wurde der Begriff mit einer rhetorischen Intention bewusst umgedeutet, durchaus erfolgreich.

Danke, vielleicht muss ich dann mein Verständnis von Funktionalismus prüfen, hatte dazu bislang eine Vorstellung, die ich mit dem Zitat nicht in Übereinstimmung bringen kann.

Export destinations for 730.000 tons of plastic waste from Germany in 2022, Netherlands 20%, Turkey 12%, Poland 11% and others
Just checked for Germany, according goverment statistics, the amount of exports was reduced. Most waste goes to the Netherlands (~20%) followed by Turkey. Though, there is no check, if the waste gets properly recycled, Netherlands for themselves are a top exporter.
Hochschild’s concept of a “deep story” can be helpful here. Veracity isn’t as important as whether something “feels true” — if it aligns with values, hopes, fears, etc. Deep stories persist across time, connecting events. Corrections of single claims are unlikely to change belief in the story.
