Springer Nature Discovers MDPI – The Strain on Scientific Publishing Home page for the paper ‘The Strain on Scientific Publishing’ by Mark A Hanson, Dan Brockington, Paolo Crosetto and Pablo Gomez Barreiro

Springer-Nature launched a series of "Discover" journals that closely mimic MDPI titles -- sharing *identical* journal names, and likely similar business model.

What is going on, and why researcher will - as always - fall for it?

🎉 It’s publication day for Rainbow Trap! 🎉

I’m really proud of the book and hope that, even in a small way, it can help us fight back against anti-LGBTQ efforts to determine who counts in law, policy and data.

This past semester was the most stressful of my academic career. I had 180 students and about half cheated at some point in the semester

They submit weekly reflections where the questions are opinion-based, graded only on effort, don't care about grammar

SO MANY students submitted ChatGPT essays

New evidence out on the EMA today.

We find that while it did keep more students in full-time education, this didn't pass through to better quals or earnings later in life - in fact, reduced links to the labour market may have even reduced earnings.

Have a read of the thread below and the report 👇

Newton International Fellowships | Royal Society This fellowship is for non-UK scientists who are at an early stage of their research career and wish to conduct research in the UK.

If you're a non-UK scientist who wants to come to the UK for a postdoc, this year's Newton Fellowships are now open. You'll need a lab to host you (which could be me, but truly, could be any PI, so get in touch with someone you'd like to work with!)
