Useful AI tools like Granola need to be re-thought to be private, on-device, and local. There's just too many risks with sharing your data with a subscription based cloud service that has to provide VC level returns to investors.

This is so awesome. Iโ€™ve been been building something with a similar ethos for non-meeting voice to text at @doing.tools - local, private, no-subscription is the future. Well done!

Yes, it's a new project I've been working on - both the app and the landing page have been fun to build!

Also, Handy is awesome, great choice ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hey @martintale.com I'd be curious to hear your feedback/thoughts on @doing.tools - very fast, local, private voice transcription for mac. It's not free/open source, but also not a subscription. Built for working for Claude Code, etc.

macOS 26 Voice Transcription: Setup Guide for Developers (2026) Apple's foundation model makes Mac dictation actually good. Setup steps, hotkey config, and real developer workflow tips.

Want to use text-to-speech on your mac to talk with apps like Claude Code and Codex? Here's a guide on how to use Apple's built-in voice transcription model on macos 26+ for free: doing.tools/guides/macos...

NVIDIA's Parakeet TDT model is the default, which in practice runs at least 10x faster than other local models like whisper. Even with a 5 or 10 minute dictation, the transcription time feels instantaneous.

You can also use Apple's new foundation model on macos 26+, but it is much slower.

I built a voice-to-text app for Mac that is very fast, private + local, and isn't a subscription. Designed for those building with AI who want a simple, quality tool that does one thing well. If you give it a try, I'd love to know what you think.

About The Other Night... How Graze is defining the next era of a decentralized, open social attention economy.

On Tuesday night, you may have noticed something a little different on Bluesky. Here's a peek behind the scenes of how the election feed came together. Endlessly grateful for this collaboration with @wnyc.org/@gothamist.com & @bsky.app!

Nice. I was confused for a bit because I couldn't see a way to sign in to Rocksky (my browser window was too narrow). Thanks!

Exactly. It should be way easier to own your adventure data and do useful stuff with it. That's what the first version I'm working on is going to help facilitate.

๐Ÿ™Œ What do you like most about onX? I know they are huge in the hunting space and growing into fishing and backcountry stuff (hiking, mtb, skiing, etc).

Is there currently a way to share my track plays to @teal.fm and/or @rocksky.app without running my own scrobbling service?

+1 for Notes app! I'm also heavy on Trailforks and RideWithGPS, which are pretty bike-centric.

I've been exploring some ideas for activity sharing and adventure route planning on atproto - will be looking for folks to help start testing soon. Here's a quick look:

I asked Claude Code to build a joke based network using the atproto skill, and it pretty much one-shotted this app complete with lexicon validation, jetstream integration, etc. Wild.

Simon has a great post about skills, how they work, and what they mean for the ecosystem:

@brianell.in/atproto-claude-skill A claude skill that has access to all of the atproto docs and reference implementations

Made a quick #atproto "agent skill" for claude code that pulls in all the current atproto.com docs and reference implementations so claude can use them to help you build atproto stuff. Check it out: tangled.org/@brianell.in...

@baileytownsend.dev is it possible to add a blob of an arbitrary file type via AT Toolbox? For example a .gpx file from a garmin device that I've saved to my iphone. I want to attach that as a blob to another record via a shortcut.
