I ask, because this is timely, as yesterday I was wrestling with a similar thread of thought and started writing about it myself.
I tried to do something new this weekend. I used a brand new set of watercolors for the first time and I recorded and then did a voice over commenting on my process afterwards. Still working out the kinks, but I think this might work.
Wrote a new thing this morning. Started as a normal short email. Got longer. Kinda about ttrpgs. Mostly about anti expert biases.

In Torchbearer, Precedence is a scale that measures a character's social status and authority, which is used in social conflicts. They're almost like Burning Wheel lifepaths, except you earn them in play.

I keep thinking about something I read last year about how the Western Empire didn't fall. It's just that the culture of the edges overtook the culture of the center one too many times and changed it forever.

I think ego probably comes into play. The reinforcement of it, even in toxic spaces, is a hell of a thing, right? You "matter" when someone "likes and subscribes" to your bullshit. And if you don't get a lot of it elsewhere in your life, that is a hell of a drug to stop snorting.
