My adult children now have me almost believing that pigeons aren't really birds and are spies for the government. I'm like 89% there at this point.

The new plan was no longer in network with most of her specialists. So she's having to go through the process of finding all new docs under the new plan and she's having a hard time finding those who take this insurance, take new patients, and are as good as her previous docs.

A self-employed friend who uses the marketplace had her plan QUADRUPLE. She couldn't afford it, so she found a crappier plan that was cheaper - but even that was still DOUBLE what she had been paying for her previous, better plan. She has health issues so she had to pick something.

I go into that library on a semi-regular basis too. I just HATE I wasn't there that day! What an incredible surprise. I would love to know the why behind it - we're about 30 minutes from where he played the night before.

" I don't get it I could play that on my guitar what's the big deal"

Then of course there are the folks chiming in comments with things like "who the hell is yo yo I've never heard of him why is this a big deal"

Of course some folks who were there recorded it and now it's doing rounds on social media. Some people in our town are big mad they didn't get notified of the event. The library keeps saying WE DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS COMING THIS WAS A SURPRISE and people are still mad. I just love small town life lol

I live in a small town in NC. A few days ago, Yo-Yo Ma just stopped into our local library in the middle of the day and gave an UNANNOUNCED concert that no one knew about. He had been playing at bigger nearby city the night before. Anyway, I would have loved to have been a patron that day!

And also "he" has plenty of people surrounding him to help him mask and carry the load for him. If my FIL had cooks and staff and advisors and whatnot, he'd be a lot better on some days too.

I'm so sorry. Living the same with my FIL right now and we're dealing with family who just won't accept it. It's so hard. We are having to do that balance of helping but also setting boundaries. Ugh. Hugs to you.

Again, I'm not saying it's advancing and maybe with speed - but we're not there yet. Dementia alone, that is. Other factors at play that we don't know about? Perhaps. A combo of factors. Absolutely could make it happen imminently. BUT. NOT. DEMENTIA. ALONE. This is not what it looks like.

I have had relatives and friends who have been in what looks like this particular stage of dementia for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS. He is slipping, no doubt. But final stages with "it" imminent from dementia alone? Nope. Something else, maybe. We're all a heart attack or stroke away as we age.

Listen to all folks and experts saying that he (you know who) is in the final stages of dementia and "it" is gonna happen imminently - I implore you to educate yourself. As terrible as this is and as much as some people want to believe it, this is not what the final stages of dementia look like.

That is incredible. One day I want to go see the Redwoods! I just love trees so much. Thank you for sharing that quote with me/us!

Tree Age Calculator

Doing some googling I found this - which is pretty cool. Not sure on the accuracy but may be fun to play around with! www.cliftonparkopenspaces.org/treecalculat...

I love that. I live on old rural property and we have some trees in our back that are a 100 or more years old. Sometimes when I'm out in a cemetery working (headstone restoration hobby) I see very large trees & realize they were present & watched funerals of our ancestors. Blows my mind each time.

People who "quit them" and then want to start again are the people who take them but the one day their insurance changes, they lose coverage completely, their insurance will no longer pay at an affordable rate, they lose their jobs and healthcare is too f'n expensive here. It's not rocket science

My dad has discovered religion in the past few years as many aging Boomers, especially the conservative ones seem to do. I would love to know (well, not really) what he thinks about that AI Jesus photo Trump posted. I'm sure he has some excuse there too. Inconsistency is my father's legacy /end

AND cherry on top here is that one of his grandkids has the exact same disability as Serge Kovaleski, the reporter Trump mocked years ago. That wasn't enough to piss him off. He even rationalized it away with "everyone makes fun of someone, sometime in their life." 4/

He will tell you that he doesn't care because he'll be "long dead and someone else can worry about it." To be fair, he was a lumber salesman and isn't too keen on restrictions that harmed his income all those years. So debt, bad for grandkids. Exploding planet, eh, grandkids can be screwed over. 3/

He told me that he HAD to vote for him because, and I quote, "we HAVE to do something about this deficit we're in, because if we don't our grandchildren will never dig out of it." Which is weird because when you ask him about the environment... 2/

Here's the weird dichotomy that is my father. He's a conservative but I would not label him as MAGA (that's my mom). He voted for Trump 3 times, I'm certain. He never "loved" the guy, yet loved his own racism and misogyny so it fit, right? Right after he was elected in 2024 ... 1/

Also them using it as some kind of positive that she's out here working DoorDash to "pay for her husband's cancer treatment" is absolutely not a flex. At. All. Maybe we could figure out a better healthcare system so a retired grandma doesn't have to deliver food to pay for a chemo treatment.

"Her savings allows her to pay for her husband's cancer treatments." Okay... so like she was able to purchase a bottle of Tylenol or something? Cause there's NO way she's saving enough money on tax on tips to pay for actual cancer treatment in this healthcare hellscape

“I was fine with the lying, the cheating, the raping, the racism, and the countless deaths he’s caused, but depicting himself as Jesus is where I draw the line” is such a bad, and extremely telling, take.

My kids (now in their 20s) used to do a silly dance to this version of the song when it came out 10 yrs ago and we'd all laugh. Thanks for jogging my memory today and giving me something to smile about. I sent them all a text in the group chat with the link. I hope it makes them smile today too.

I agree wholeheartedly as a no-longer-practicing person. Also it's one of those moments where I like to play the "could you imagine if Obama had done this?" game.. I mean really. Just imagine the meltdown the right would have while giving this guy a pass.
