I mean they've only been doing "look at us, we love pipelines!" for a decade. Surely any day now it'll start working, and people will start saying "I love pipelines too and that's why I'm voting NDP!" 🙃 Right?

If British Columbia can make Eby back down on UNDRIP, and Ontarians can make Ford back down on the jet, and Nova Scotia can make Houston back down on the budget, then Albertans can make Smith back down on gerrymandering. Organize, friends.

Permanent standard time would be a good decision. Permanent daylight time will be a nightmare in winter. More importantly, it was already rejected by voters in a referendum.

Governing by referendum is not a great idea for most issues, but it's even worse to govern by the opposite of the results.

We do and they can't.

The UCP has decided they don't care about that, so they're gonna try to throw out all the work from the nonpartisan board and make up their own rules.

But that's actually not how it works here and we can't let them get away with it.

Majority governments are bad for democracy.

Expecting a snowstorm tomorrow or the next day, so I will keep both my masks and my sweater, thanks! (And my winter coat, and scarf, and mittens 🥶😭)

That is a perfect way to describe it.

I really need the smart progressives to start showing this same level of delusional confidence. Imagine what we could achieve.

No. In the 90s, we were all about recycling & save the rainforest & don't be racist. I really thought we were gonna grow up in a much kinder, cleaner world than our parents.

But here we are, choking on wildfire smoke and throwing kids in concentration camps. Wtf.

Artemis encapsulates all of the beautiful and important things that are our only path OUT of the world melting down around us.

Things like this are the reason WHY it matters that we don't let the world melt down around us. Things that give people wonder & awe about the world around them. Things that give people a sense of community and shared hope. Seeing women scientists running the show & being amazing at their jobs.

If any UCP canvassers show up on your doorstep, the very best thing you can do is waste as much of their time as you can stand. Pretend to be undecided and ask a bunch of inane questions.

Why don't those 7% just MOVE to the US if they want to be American so bad, and leave the rest of us alone?!

you don't fight fascism by welcoming people promoting fascist ideology into your party with open arms.

You fight fascism by pushing fascists out of the government.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand or agree on.

Except in Alberta, where our "government" (dictatorship?) is suggesting they might just go ahead and overrule the independent boundaries commission and gerrymander anyway 🙃

It's not technically a Mass because we don't do communion on Good Friday, but we very much have a service.

Why would anyone ever shovel snow onto the street? Not once in all my years of snow-shovelling has it ever occurred to me to shovel like that, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do it either.

I'm not from Calgary though, is this some weird Calgary-specific custom?

Also wild that this is the type of lie he wants to brag with. Who's his target audience--preschool bullies who just like running around and kicking down the other kids' Lego towers?

(Rhetorical question. I already know most of his MAGA cult do, in fact, have the mentality of preschool bullies.)

You basically plagiarized my brain 😆 This is exactly what I've been thinking for years.

I'm so disappointed that we're still worshipping at the altar of oil & gas in 2025. How long can the NDP keep slamming their heads against this brick wall?

As the data shows, cutting back on delivery services loses more revenue than it saves expenses. They should only stop daily delivery if they want to dig the financial hole deeper.

If you want reforms to be successful, they have to be more focused on investing in services to generate revenue.

Especially when gas prices are through the roof due to our fossil fuel dependence, it feels like the time is ripe for, "Wouldn't it be great if we had more alternatives?" to resonate with the average Joe.

The NDP has spent a decade trying to convince the "centrists" that they're pro-pipeline, & the "centrists" still fully believe the opposite. They're not listening.

At what point does the NDP stop thinking "surely this time the O&G bros will love us!" and realize maybe it's time to take a new tack?

Winning an election in Alberta always relies on building coalitions. But it is fascinating to me how it is typically assumed that the pipeline-loving demographic of the coalition is bigger than the pipeline-disliking demographic, or that it is even viable or advisable to court that demographic

Movie poster for August Rush, showing a young Freddie Highmore playing guitar in front of the moon, while Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers cuddle in the sky above him. Not pictured: Robin Williams, whose character's name is Wizard.

Does it count if one if the characters is called Wizard but he doesn't actually have magic powers?

Also the thing about "electors vs population" is a very dry way of saying the minority group was super racist.
