Absolutely absurd that in the year 2026 there is no solar panel emoji OR wind turbine emoji

We are looking at a painting of St Liphardus - a 6th-century lawyer, hermit and abbot in Meung-sur-Loire near Orléans, France. He is wearing bishops clothing including a surplus and mitre and is holding a crook. On a lead is a small knee high green and blue dragon.

We’re very sorry sir but you cannot bring your emotional support dragon in here.

What's your favourite pair of related/unrelated facts?

I'll start:

A human being is likely to survive an impact of about 40km/h.

The top speed of a human is about 40km/h.

Pennsylvania's motor-voter system effectively screens non-citizens from voter registration • Pennsylvania Capital-Star The audit also revealed problems with PennDOT’s data security protocols and recommended tighter internal controls.

Pennsylvania's auditor general, a Republican, audited 210,000+ new voter registrations under Gov. Shapiro's new motor voter system to see if noncitizens were registering to vote.

They found one. One.

And that was because a PennDOT staffer erred. It was fixed before the driver left the office.

Not the final chapter. The stepping stone.

A 600-ton excavator just went electric. Tethered to the grid, backed by a ~450 kWh buffer battery. This is how S-curves move. Solve what works, then scale.

Mining was the holdout. Now it’s the proving ground.

The inflection starts here. #Bettrification

I say this as a person with a polymer engineering degree, who used to hand out adhesives (from a fridge with 50+ options) as a major part of my job:

Gorilla Glue is an excellent and versatile product.

The tariffs were very bad and I don't even need to argue on immediate economic impacts (I can but prefer this cause there's no counterarguement)

The damage done by wrecking global trust in trade agreements with the US has a medium-long term impact that is unimaginably expensive to Americans

Waking up to discover that evidence has been released proving something we all knew. The Supreme Court's efforts to stop the Obama clean power plant rules were rooted in explicit, corrupt efforts to protect the fossil fuel industry.

Came across someone sharing one of my charts today calling it:

“Strait of Batteries: the most important chart in energy.”

The old world ran through the Strait of Hormuz.

The new one runs through this chart.

Costs down
Storage up

Energy is shifting from geopolitics to physics.

"Lindsey Boylan refuses to disappear, even though we'd really like her to, because her vindication makes us look bad. Mamdani's endorsement of her, despite alignment on policies and her being an incredibly effective campaigner, must just be for spite"

What dismissive horseshit this is

Agreed: direct current branch circuits can connect the resi loads that matter most: EV charging, high efficiency variable speed drive heat pumps for space and water heating. Add in rooftop PV and stationary battery and there’s a whole lot of resi load/gen/storage that is already DC.

As a human and a citizen I am in favor of universal health care. As an employer I am VERY in favor of it.

Thanks for posting @commercialsolarguy.com , excellent Sunday morning material! Some questions: is this system entirely separate from the existing building electrical system? Also you mentioned the output of five string inverters entering the AC combiner. I see 4 thick 3 φ wires and 1 tiny. Why?

You'll have to ask Hibra, but I guess weight and warranty would stop moving 🔋. Batteries are so cheap now and getting cheaper they can do one 🚜at a time and use the🔋to reinforce weak rural grids (#Storm Eowyn- might even get a DS3 payment to do so) @hannahdaly.ie has a thread on reusing her EV 🔋

The amazing, letter-perfect performance of NASA this week is a ferocious rebuke to the right-wing fools who constantly tell us that for-profit businesses always do a job better than the government.
