maybe your audience isn't engaging in your worldbuilding because they've already parsed it all from the taglines. maybe your audience is way smarter than you realize. maybe everyone's imagination has been tranquilized into dormancy by the nothing of fast-food entertainment and needs reawakening...

it's not like we lost the ability to suspend disbelief and create absolute immersion. in such a rabid attention economy, couldn't you win by being paradoxically quiet, shadowy, slightly obtuse?

what if you front-loaded this feeling onto your audience? instead of searching for all the marketable commonalities, you offered disorientation –

"hey, you couldn't possibly know everything about this setting. it is too complex, too vast for summary."

thinking still about sarpadia as a charming microcosm of the plane, but also terisiare, shiv, jamuraa... you don't need to be an expert in dominaria history to feel its wonder and intrigue.

wonder is usually seeded in not knowing something in its totality, right?

part of what makes dominaria so rich is that it's wildly disparate, a true "world" that can't be reduced to five bullet points on a whiteboard.

No. Your childhood nostalgia does not matter more than the lives of real people.

And frankly I'm fucking tired of having to pretend that isnt a fucking insane thing to say in response to "please don't support the hate monger lady's soggy, reheated nachos"

Stop talking about how Rowling is a bad writer. IT DOESN'T MATTER. It doesn't matter that you've always hated the books. No one cares! The point is she is actively creating real harm in the real world.

It wouldn't matter if Harry Potter was a singular, unmatched work of genius. Giving Rowling money is actively making the world a worse place and killing trans folks. There's no book good enough or nostalgic enough for that to be worth it.

And because I've seen the comparison: This is not an H.P. Lovecraft situation of "separate the art from the artist."

Lovecraft is a century dead. He's not alive right now, trying to suppress records of his yacht visiting Epstein Island and swearing to make the lives of millions of ppl unlivable.

Idk how many people caught this, but I love how they brought back the old Player Rewards style of borderless for the headliner since it's a bit of a throwback card.

Like, not just in the shape of the art either, but you'll notice that it lacks the collector info at the bottom as well even!

The business owner, Lindsay, was asked to give public testimony to the city council in support of codifying Portland law, ensuring we are a sanctuary city for the LGBTQIA2S+ and non heteronormative relationships.
