3⃣ The costs of inaction are rising—from billions in flood insurance claims to increasing energy and insurance costs for residents.
2⃣ Displacement is already happening. Through New Jersey’s Blue Acres program, 1,677 homes have been bought out due to repeated flooding—each representing a family forced to make the difficult decision about relocation.
1⃣ Today, nearly 1 in 4 schools, hospitals, fire stations, and wastewater plants are already located in flood zones. By 2050, that rises to more than 1 in 3—putting critical services, $435.9B in property value, and $5.9B in annual tax revenue at risk.
