Ever wonmder how traceroute works, how it works out all of the intermeduiate points your traffic passes through to reach its destination? Its a neat trick abusing a little one feature of how packets are sent.

Have to love the US. Whilst I get that some properties will be so remote that they're off grid - fair enough, when you build/buy them you know that - can a power co really just decide, after decades of supply, to stop and push you off grid?

One of the amazing things from Artemis II: the use of a laser comms system to get data back to earth. It can communicate at up to 260Mbs , but is very susceptible to cloud cover and to crew movement on the Orion. Its the orbital equivalent of holding your phone at weird angle in an awkward spot 🤣
... and thats a choice about which tech you choose to use, which you choose to block, and sometimes flipping between 'personalities' of yourself so you have a small footprint to big tech, and a big footprint in the indie world away from it. One blog looks at it:

Some journalists think the dark web is 'the places you cant reach by a simple Google search'. In one sense thats definitely *a* darker web, darker - away from the search-light of big tech and big-ad. There's a growing Independent web, seeking to be away from Big Tech, to a greater or lesser extent..
How on earth have we managed to lose a highly regarded roman herb? Does it even still exist - where? Is it hiding in plain sight now as something we think a weed?

I'd be happy to call them right-wing if they criticised the democratic backsliding, racism and corruption of their sister parties in other countries - including politicians they have campaigned for - and promised not to do the same if they won power.
I love seeing Tories decry the Deigo Garcia deal and the elements of it - when they left a draft of it in 2024 when they lost the election with all of the same elements in place. Its hypocrisy. and we notice. #skynews
thats good sword control there 😏
🇺🇦 When we were preparing this year's Easter greeting, we learned that right next door, also on the territory of Sofia Kyivska, children of defenders from Kyiv and the Kyiv region gathered, whose parents, unfortunately, died in this war.
The smiles with which we were greeted are priceless.
... though interim results will be published as the count progresses. I guess that means Orban will look to abuse those in some way where he can as 'stolen election' just like his puupet masters Trump and Putin have instructed him.
The Hungarian election polls close at 7pm local time tonight.
Because of the high number of overseas/mail in votes which are counted nationally but distributed to the local constituency totals, the final result wont be known for about a week. Details here:

National Parliament Election in Hungary today 🇭🇺 🇪🇺
Turnout as of 9 a.m. is significantly higher than in previous elections. Plotting the 2026–2022 turnout change against Fidesz–KDNP's 2022 vote share reveals no clear pattern. #Hungary

The National Security Strategy (AKA the far-right international) in action
... if the likes of Ireland or Austria stood in the way of adding a much stronger defence element to EU then the door would be open for a new parallel atlantic alliance (canada included) sans US.
... that we need deeper links with our EU and European colleagues. Hilarious, if they hadnt wasted so much time on Brexit. This is hairpin stuff. The future alliances they're really alluding to are a mesh of NATO and EU and rEU countries - and the one alliance that does all of that is EU.
...
Brexiters now are doing a dance: stressing how much UK needs to build alliances and deepen defence ties, and the rest, but ofc 'not rejoining the EU'. Its fascinating how theyve also shifted from condeming even the links put in place with the Brexit deal as too much to now acknowledging ...

#skyNews is nit picking Wes Streeting over the words Trump has used. Not the most fruitful use of questions.
never hear dit? ive always thought this was the dictionary defintion. The likes of Auf Wiedersehen Pet - they were expat workers. Spend the winter in Spain but always return to UK - expats. But moved permanently: immigrant. Expats donbt change their 'home', migrants do.
right, like this is an affirmative decision to behave this way, you have to actively choose to do sex pest stuff
it’s so much less effort to just not show your penis to people
the extent to which so many men are sex pests is just baffling and depressing
you can just Not Do That
there is shit that's hard for me! remembering to take in the trash cans is hard! checking the calendar is hard! starting a design doc is hard! not being a sex pest: not that hard
A BA A380 coming in to land at Heathrow yesterday (?) performed a full touchdown - all wheels were on the ground- before deciding to go around, immediately taking off again. It was too far down the runway to stop safely it seems.

... with my years of experience and expertise I diagnose that the problem here might be how hard it is to talk someone out of a position that would net them huge leverage and the equivalent to 5% of their GDP in free annual toll revenue.
Lawyers are complaining their clients , or rather the bots/agents of their clients, are sending them barrages of emails and letters, endangering fixed price deals because of the volume of work generated . Another form of the two sided nature of AI deployment then.
