I miss marquees. I drive by the local Cineplex and have no goddam idea what’s playing. Not that I’ve been in one since 2019.
Also I miss old rep theatres that published newsprint bimonthly schedules and which smelt of butter and dust.

Old address. Ok if I DM you the correct one?
Alas I can’t get PayPal to accept my Canuck address. 😢
Just replaced a foggy bay window and it cost $6k in Canuck bucks so I’m guessing around $1k?

I’m doing my part!
One of my favourite cities.
I’ll pass that along. We had a nice birthday trip. :)
Ive read Goshawk Squadron and Piece of Cake (I’m old enough to remember the TV version from the late 80’s). ok if you like military fiction served with a large side of cynicism.
A week in paradise is done and heading home. It was a good week for reading #books.
McEwan was a bit of a slog, Herron a guilty pleasure, Barnes made me think of Conan Doyle in a new light. Of the four I’m most glad I read Robinson.

I was today old when I learned that Jeremy Brett once appeared in the original Battlestar Galactica. Or maybe he played Adama. Holmes always was a master of disguise.
Ewoks are aquatic? Amphibians? 😳
Joyous talk of the unlimited and unfettered projection of American imperial power is, to your neighbours, like the bellowing of an apex predator in the nearby jungle.
He’s still riding that “Justinflation” horse because he has no other ideas.
Words no longer have meaning.
Live video of my last half marathon.
Terrific work and extra marks for the lovely geese.
I really should read Winged Victory. Same with naval fiction I think - Douglas Reeman for example wrote many of his books from first hand knowledge of the RN.
I knew a few Canadian Army colleagues who were literary and kept pestering them to write an Afghanistan novel. Maybe one day someone will.
No but I definitely will now!
I’m finding the books more entertaining than the series. My wife just finished Secret Hours and liked it but was hoping there was more of the Lamb backstory from his Berlin days.
I suspect most spying as tedious and soul destroying as Herron describes the work inside Slough House.
A bodega cat should bite him on the ass. But … that would be cruel to the cat.
Holiday reading. This was published in 1980 and I’m only now discovering it.
It may well be the most beautifully written thing I’ve ever read. #books #booksky
I once heard it said that the Patricias are the wild girl you date in college, the Royals are the girl you bring home to meet mother, and the VanDoos are the chick who beats you with a broken pool cue in a biker bar.
😳
I just finished Ex Supra. I quite liked it but JFC it was grim and maybe we need grim when we think about the future.
Wowzers! 😳😳😍
Best story I’ve heard lately. 😍
