scuffed but the math was worth it in the end. now given a triangle in UV space and a triangle in world space

i can easily sample a pixel from UV, then draw it on the appropriate world space location.

i needed to do this because i rewrote my rendering to work with triangles and non-integer UVs

when expanding + simplifying i get something shockingly close to the barycentric coordinate system. the only difference is how i get to the factors w2 and w1

i will say my version has 1 flaw in which t1 becomes undefined when the point is on S3, so good job barry 👍

the specific problem i'm trying to solve is projecting any triangle S (in green) into triangle D (purple), relative to the 3 points that make it.

my intuition figured this could be computed with linear and inverse interpolation functions like so

oops i accidentally rediscovered the baycentric coordinate system from base principles of linear interpolation
