Great to meet with Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway & discuss their proposed rail service connecting Telford to London. This link would boost growth & make an immense difference to our town. The Office for Road & Rail is considering the application, & I'll continue to give it my full support.

I am immensely grateful to the brave men and women who have worked so hard in recent weeks to keep Britain safe and strong, and continue to protect us both at home and overseas. On behalf of me and my constituents: thank you.
📸 RAF Akrotiri, from my recent visit — where British personnel continue to serve with professionalism and courage every day.
There will be many strongly held views. Mine is clear: it was right that Britain did not take part in the original strikes — but it is our absolute duty to defend our people, our assets, and our allies from attacks by Iran.
I remain in constant contact with the Ministry of Defence, and my thoughts are with all British citizens and personnel serving overseas.
I know there are many British citizens across the region, including our Armed Forces and their families. I’m especially conscious of Telford’s strong historic and current connections to the Armed Forces and this part of the world.

The situation in the Middle East is fast-moving & deeply concerning.
At times like this, false info spreads quickly online, often pushed by hostile actors seeking to scare & divide us. It’s more important than ever to rely on trusted sources like the BBC & question info that can't be verified.

Today marks four years since the invasion of Ukraine.
Today, and every day, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine, and we honour the memory of all those whose lives have been taken by this war.
We must always stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.
That’s why improving our train services has been one of my top priorities. I am working closely with Transport for the West Midlands to deliver real improvements — including a direct Telford–London service and faster, more reliable connections across the West Midlands.
While it is not a silver bullet, it is a vital step towards bringing back a rail network passengers can rely on under Great British Railways, with more reliable and more affordable journeys.
For Telford, strong rail links are vital to jobs, education and investment.
🚆 Yesterday marked a major step forward for Telford rail services as West Midlands Trains and London Northwestern returned to public ownership.
Public ownership ensures services our trains are run in the interests of passengers, not shareholders.

This Labour Government is pro-business, pro-worker and pro-family.
We already have the lowest council tax in the Midlands, and second lowest in England for our type of Council; with this funding boost, the work to create a better Telford and Wrekin continues.
I’ve spent the last year standing up for Telford to get fair funding, and after bringing the Council together with the Local Government Secretary Steve Reed to make the case - the government has delivered a fair funding deal for Telford.
This funding is on-top of the tens of millions of pounds given to the council for regeneration schemes, road upgrades, bus services and much more!
Yesterday, the Labour Government set out how Telford and Wrekin Council will get an extra £66.6m to spend on services right here in Telford.
Every year I was Council Leader we saw government cut after government cut, now we are seeing record investment into our Borough.
🧵
A game-changing investment. I look forward to working with the Govt and Telford & Wrekin Council to make this happen and change the lives of SEND pupils.
My heart goes out to the loved ones of this brave serviceman.
A reminder of the risks that our brave men and women take every day.
➡ By taking our case directly to Ministry of Defence we’re making sure Telford’s voice is heard at the highest level and that our town gets the investment and opportunities it deserves.
Telford has the skills, the talent, and the ambition. Now it’s time to deliver.
➡ A Defence Growth Zone could create thousands of quality jobs, boost training and apprenticeships, and drive long-term growth for our town.
➡ We made the case for our town as a national hub for defence.
➡ This is about more than defence - it’s about jobs, skills, and opportunity for people here in Telford.
➡ With our talented workforce, strong manufacturing base, and existing defence infrastructure, we’re ready to lead.
Putting #Telford at the Heart of Britain’s Defence Industry
I’ve taken Telford’s defence growth ambitions straight to the Ministry of Defence, alongside Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council Lee Carter.
Right now our country spends £1 in every £10 on servicing debt, millions on waiting lists, and the cost of living so high.
I’ll keep listening to you and standing up for Telford to make sure these changes make a difference for our town, and we can renew our country together.
💷 We’re asking those with the broadest shoulders to contribute the most — including tax increases on landlords and owners of multi-million-pound homes
