I’ve learned that sometimes upworthy and other sites just grab your stuff without asking under the guise of it being “news” so it is possible she just posted it on her normal community and they yoinked it.

Whenever there's a heat wave, I see all these social media posts about the importance of rescuing animals trapped in hot cars, and I love to see it. Truly.

It just feels incongruent with the ways people insist I'm naïve for thinking we can normalize bystander intervention for hate and harassment.

You know how quickly you would rescue a dog trapped in a hot car? I want you to have the same energy for people in distress around you.

That's what bystander intervention is - showing up for each other, regardless of whether we know each other or not.
