Powerful message to the Tasmanian Upper House today. I signed it too although it didn't make it into the published version. I'm sure there were many more like me. Over to you now LegCo. Let's get rid of this abominable and spurious 'sport'. #politas #auspol

Franklin should be renamed. While sure he was governor, his and his wife’s treatment of Mathinna is enough to remove any recognition furthermore

TL;DR anyone pitching for a new name for Franklin? @kevinbonham.bsky.social

Better late than never. After my question to the Ag Minister on Monday, the regulator finally recognises the risk salmon companies are putting on the Tas environment and community. Removing the approval is good, but the companies still need to clean up their act. #politas #auspol

The dismantling of the Tasmanian government department State Growth proves one thing: the Rockliff Government lied to Tasmanians.

25% of the State Growth workforce will be slashed.

They repeatedly said no job cuts and no cuts to public services.

Don’t be fooled by Hanson and her ilk. Yes many people are rightly disillusioned away from their party of choice, but her type of politics is void of ideas and downright dangerous. Watch this for just a start www.abc.net.au/mediawatch/e... #politas #auspol

We are sad to tell you that our beloved, brilliant Jon Kudelka died peacefully in South Hobart on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 53.
Jon was deeply loved and admired by many, including fellow Tasmanians, the legions of fans of his inimitable art, countless newspaper readers over 30 years, and even by the politicians he relentlessly skewered in his award-winning cartoons (many of whom have his work on their walls). He loved his family, friends, making art in many forms, and firmly calling out political and anti-science bullshit with his typically dry wit and compassion.
Jon was diagnosed with glioblastoma in early 2024 and faced treatment for two years with positivity and hope, supported by his wife, Maggie, teenage children Kay and Oskar, sister Liesl, and his many friends.
Jon believed in showing up fully for life and embracing humour even in the hardest of times. In the past two years, he was heard many times to say, ironically, “good times”.
Jon’s presence remains in the love he gave and the lives he touched. He will always be with us.
Funeral details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Jon’s memory to The Bob Brown Foundation, Canteen Australia or The Menzies Institute for Medical Research.
