I am suggesting that the exception of someone who is an ESL speaker and has anxiety, I don't want to shame them from my position of privilege, since I know people who are ESL speakers and they have said this has helped them dramatically with anxiety issues

Wow it did it again! And this time I just posted the link!
Ok, click through for the actual art not turned into a blurry mess :P
Also I don't know what the image compressor over here was doing but wow it did an absolute number on my linearly upscaled pixel art, which *should* look like this files.spritely.institute/images/blog/...
It turns out our persistence system already was a good foundation for "actors don't need to be awake all the time". Having Goblins actors only be "live" when needed moves Goblins more and more towards not just being for distributed programming, but also a kind of general distributed database system!
I'm really excited about this new release of Goblins! While lots of little things went into it, the Sleepy Actors idea is one we've been kicking around for a while, and it's finally real! spritely.institute/news/spritel...

We’re excited to announce Spritely Goblins 0.18.0! Featuring new caching layer called “sleepy actors”, OCapN protocol updates, and numerous bug fixes!
Get cozy by the fire, get a nice cup of tea, and have a relaxing read about this exciting new Goblins release! spritely.institute/news/spritel...
There's an exception if English is not your primary language and you would feel too self-conscious to publish if you hadn't used some editing assistance. This I can understand, though personally, I can tell you I wouldn't mind!
I spell check once, proofread once, then publish. When people point out errors, it makes me feel good, because it means people are reading what I write, and I correct it then.
I'd rather have your charming acoustic-performance words, mistakes and all! I love rustic, cozy mistakes in writing.
If you are thinking about running your blogpost through an AI editor, don't! It almost always makes it more boring.
Whatever you have to say is what you had to say anyway. Just say that, you don't need more. And the mistakes are perfectly fine.
So much so that if I didn't know you better I'd say you just did a rule-of-three AND "This isn't X, it's Y"

No sending messages are considered cost, that's the cost being counted. But I don't want to get into it in this thread, not right now. Let's leave this to cool for a while and see if there's a way we can get back to all this conversation productively (which I would genuinely like)
passing not assing, lol
Good observations and cross comparisons of strengths and weaknesses. And I see no reason each system can't have the strengths of the other 💜
Big shit is happening in OCapN right now oh my god
3 different interoperable language implementations?!?! All assing the test suite?!?! (4 if both Racket & Guile count ;P)
More sooooooooon
1. This weekend, a federal judge permanently blocked funding threats to providers and hospitals that provide trans youth care.
The judge also blocked "any similar policy."
Hospitals have NO excuse and must return to providing care under many blue state laws.

Deflated, encouraged, aspirational, back to deflated
Gonna take a break and get back to the things I know I can make headway on
Distributed authority is a strong interest of mine, I do have thoughts
I left some thoughts on the fediverse earlier, didn't really feel up for sharing them here. But anyway. Stepping away for now, back into the things I do control more in my life. social.coop/@cwebber/116...
I actually care a lot about our communities learning from each other. I've been trying to talk to the fediverse about how it can learn from the ATmosphere. I'd like to engage in conversations in the reverse too. Everyone's on edge tho.
I get it. I'm guilty too. I'd like to share understanding tho
It's still pretty heated. I get that this thread started that way.
I was pretty excited to talk about this subject though, learning from each other is something I actually care about a lot, but I feel pretty demotivated now.
It feels pretty hard to get to a better place of discourse this way.
With the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars.
We've enlisted the help of @timheidecker.bsky.social, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director.
Please stand by for more.
Scalable applications for communities is one of my primary concerns. But I think there is some Conway's Law stuff that is informing base perspectives and preventing people from hearing each other here.
SCOOP with Elizabeth Williamson: The Onion has a new plan to take over Infowars. It has entered into an agreement to license the Infowars brand and plans to operate it as a comedy site. A Texas judge must approve the deal.

okay :\
Perhaps it deserves its own blogpost, but I could also file an issue, but it would take time to explain, and the real question is whether it's *worth* the time because there's any interest in the learning-lessons-from-activitypub-on-how-to-scale-down is something that would be well received
I am suggesting that metadata related to addressing and then actually delivering to specific, well I suppose you could say appviews, not sure whether you'd say appview or PDS, but regardless directed inbox delivery could be possible, and would allow ATproto to scale down significantly!
Well, I finally got encouragement by the ActivityPub community to file an issue about it github.com/w3c/activity...
I'd be happy to also file an issue for ATproto on how to bring directed messaging if there's interest. I truly think we could bring both protocols towards each other's strengths!
