Angry weirdos always bring up that I used to be a hairdresser as if I am supposed to be ashamed of it.
Timmy, I was a great hairdresser. I’m proud of doing a job that brought people confidence and joy.
:)
this is like a miracle
Did … Jason Mendoza and Pillboi come up with this scam?

Police said he pointed a gun at them. Body cam footage shows police shooting him in the back of the head as he ran away from them

As a therapist and a healthcare worker, chatbots are becoming a public health crisis, and I’m tired of hearing people who don’t see the harm every day explain why this is totally fine and just like people pearl-clutching over cellphones. It’s getting worse and we haven’t scratched the surface.
This is such sad news—I was a big fan

Vatican City as of a few months ago. Look at all those hooligans loitering on the roof of St Peter’s
It’s profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that that’s what Daredevil is for
You see RFK as a freak you can compare to disabled people, but he's a normal white man who sees himself as a norm & wants to eliminate disabled people.
That is the correct answer
Look somebody needs to be running a massive ad campaign showing baby penguins dying because of data centers etc. given that people tend to care about causes more when you show cute animals in danger

I think this is exactly right. In the Matrix, you’re still interacting with other people who can and do push back. With chatbots, it’s just sycophantic.
it would be really funny if one of the astronauts had hid in the capsule and the others went out and were like what no there were only 3 of us
The Hot Ones with BTS is worth a watch even if you’re not into the band. They’re adorably chaotic.
fascists have to be constantly shamed and ridiculed bc they exist in echo chambers where they are treated like monarchs
Maybe Punch the monkey isn't the victim. Maybe bc he is poorly socialized (bc of being raised by humans), he has no understanding of appropriate monkey behavior & the other monkeys are just reacting to that. If a stranger walked right up to you and invaded your personal space, you'd punch them, too.
Probably a bad time to announce my new fantasy subgenre focused on manta rays.
The use of “hallucinate” is a stroke of true evil genius in the AI world.
In ANY other context we’d just call them errors & the fail rate would be crystal clear.
Instead, “hallucinate” implies genuine sentience & the *absence* of real error.
Aw, this software isn’t shit! Boo’s just dreaming!
Oh interesting I always thought it was permanent
Serious question for the people on here who understand Catholicism better than I do: why doesn't the Pope just excommunicate Vance and his ilk? Like how is separating children from their families and starting wars not sinful enough to get you kicked out of the Church?
MCD was such a good source of genre-bending work, and this move just further heightens my anxiety about the industry's increasing refusal to take risks
Can attest that this has ended multiple dizzy spells for me. There’s apparently an alternate version that also works very well.
Yeah this is literally the purpose of these products. I don't mean this in a "kids these days" kind of way. EdTech companies, and the feckless education bosses who team up with them, want education to be a credential-generating machine in which learners act like customers and teachers act like cops
Fill your shelves with great stuff.
It would be lovely if you picked up the paperback for
We Lived on the Horizon, which hits on 4/21.
It's about revolution, humanity, aging, altruism, and what a moral life is in interesting times.

I often look back with horror at just how damaging my PhD experience was. It taught me to devalue my time, my physical needs, and my desires. I can’t believe how culturally acceptable it is for schools to trick 20-year-olds into free labor with nothing but the vague possibility of a tenure-track job
I've always suspected it's because Toni Morrison is the only Black (or Black woman) author they've read. Like they read her in college and so use her as an example of why they're not racist, but the fact that they haven't read any other Black authors is the real giveaway.
