Illinois county courthouse cuts ribbon on 1.3-MW solar project Cook County in Illinois recently celebrated the completion of a solar project at its Skokie courthouse. County officials held a ribbon cutting this week

I was happy to attend the ribbon cutting for this project! I am proud to see projects like this making a difference in Cook County, and I hope to see many more like it in the future!

My thoughts are with my former colleague Dennis Deer’s family in the wake of this terrible tragedy. This is a tremendous loss for Cook County, and I pray that the family finds peace and strength in the days ahead.

This solar array is 1.5 MW and will result in an annual greenhouse gas emissions reduction of 722 metric tons of carbon dioxide. This puts the county even closer to its goal of 100% renewable energy used by county buildings by 2030.
