This wedge tornado I photographed by Essex, IA on 4/17/25 was 1.8 mi wide at it's max & rated EF-1 by the NWS. Thankfully there were no injuries. I am in shock I was there to document this historic event!

One of my favorite lightning shots! The entire sky was glowing orange, brighter than I've ever seen. I did not enhance the color in this photo at all! In fact, I brought down the vibrancy a bit.

This wedge tornado was a powerful EF-4! The associated horizontal vortex is a sign of it's strength, and rare to see. Luckily this tornado stayed in the fields and lifted before the storm moved over the town of Salina, KS. 4/14/12

A beautiful Supercell at the end of it's life cycle! Reminds me how everything in life is so dynamic and changing at all times. It's important to appreciate the gift of the present moment.

Thank you! It was actually pretty amazing, as we were safely behind the tornado and it was moving very slowly.
A sneak peek of my first portrait shoot in the new studio! The background is one of my storm photos from this year & the image was composed all in camera, using a projector and strobes. I'm so excited to begin this new journey in creative portrait photography!

A small but mighty tornado spins violently in the open fields, producing wind speeds up to 170 mph during it's life cycle.
I have so many images from this day that have never been edited or shared. This is one of them!
