The boy who came back: the near-death, and changed life, of my son Max It was, we were told, a case of sudden infant death syndrome interrupted. What followed would transform my understanding of parenting, disability and the breadth of what makes a meaningful life

If you read one thing today, please read this. Heart-breaking but beautifully written, deeply moving and - ultimately - full of hope.

Tell you,38 years I've been watching and I doubt there's more than a handful of games where he's either not played, coached, managed or commentated on in that time. Absolutely love him to bits. #afcb

Well, where I live is now officially represented by a Reform councillor. An individual who made no attempt to canvass in our area - no leaflet, no nothing (I didn’t even know her name until the ballot paper), and yet somehow successful. Can’t work out if I’m angry at my neighbours or just sad.

if you are a cis person it costs you nothing to just say today that you see & hear your trans sisters & brothers & others over in the UK today -- and around the world, too, knowing that rulings like today's ripple out in ugly ways.

Someone has been spouting anti-trans hatred on our Facebook
Community page recently (in response to a women’s group that includes *all* women in that definition), and I am so tired of being the only person who seems to be standing against it. My opinion of my neighbourhood is through the floor.

It’s taken me a while, because who needs yet another app, but I’ve finally downloaded Substack. Anyone I absolutely should be following/subscribed to (once I’ve worked out the difference between those two things)? Thanks!

My nails look like Mini Eggs, and it’s really important as many people as possible see them before Easter, so here you are.

Can you tell I have a uni assignment due in tomorrow and my VPN just went down? 🫠

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

There is nothing that frustrates me more than how locked down my work laptop is. What do you mean I can only save onto a network drive that I can only access through a VPN, and not the OneDrive that NHS Mail has for this exact purpose? VPN goes down, I literally can’t do anything. Madness.

For Mother’s Day, I got a lovely card, some gorgeous flowers, a book about potatoes, and a close-up of Noel Gallagher getting upset that Man City missed a penalty against AFCB - all my favourite things.

Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️

This time last year, I’d completed almost 150 interviews in the previous two months, beginning to build our brilliant EPR team. Today I did my first interviews in a good 6 months, and it’s so good to be back 🙌🏻

“There is this terrible misconception that disabled people just take, but actually by taking from us, you prevent us from being able to give – we want to be able to participate in life equally the same as anyone else, and that includes going to work.” Disability campaigner Tanni Gray-Thompson

It’s quite the week to work on an NHS England funded programme and have a husband that works for NHS England. Anyone want to buy a Prada?

Eddie’s friend has just said “your mum’s a gold digger because she has a Prada handbag”… Err, I think you’ll find I buy my own overpriced accessories, thank you very much 🫠

Have woken up this morning as the mother of a teenager! The earliest photos of I have of her are in NICU, but this was her first day at home - it feels like only yesterday…

Happy 13th Birthday Penny, what a wonderful person you are ❤️

Hitting the nail on the head re multi-year funding to enable consistent, well-developed workforce for digital transformation. We should be funding teams, not projects - multiple short-term FTCs does not allow the NHS to attract and retain key talent in these areas.
