We are thrilled that the co-chair of the TFJS Collaborativeโs Strategy Committee, Nancy Cameron, KC, received a lifetime achievement award at the Rocky Mountain Collaborative Conference. Bravo Nancy! ๐๐
We also heard from the new Executive Director, Veronique Morissette, virtually. We are looking forward to continuing to work with national, provincial and territorial counterparts who share our dedication to #A2J through upcoming NAC events.
The Hon. Justice Karakatsanis of the Supreme Court of Canada, who is the Chair of the NAC, spoke about the importance of collaborative work and engaged in dialogue with attendees about what #person-centred justice looks like. We appreciated the presence of Mark Benton, KC, as Vice-Chair๐

๐ On October 10, the team had its first in-person working session! We connected face-to-face ๐ค and worked on Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results (SOAR) analysis to set objectives for the upcoming work.
๐ Paige Thombs combines legal expertise โ๏ธ, child welfare ๐ถ, EDIA ๐, and public engagement knowledge ๐ฃ. She is a PhD Candidate in Law at UVic ๐, has been an adjunct professor, and has led initiatives supporting children, youth, and deaf and hard of hearing communities in BC.
โจ Brenda Forero has supported both the substantive and administrative sides of justice-oriented programs. She recently completed a Masterโs in Gender, Race, Sexuality & Social Justice at UBC and brings a unique mix of legal โ๏ธ, administrative ๐๏ธ, and communications ๐ข experience.
๐ Exciting news! A2JBC has welcomed two new team members this semester. Meet Brenda Forero and Paige Thombs, who join our Strategic Coordinator, Tina, to support our collaborative work across BC. ๐ค
