Labour’s great green energy plan could be a legacy as vital as the NHS | Polly Toynbee Ed Miliband has a rare chance to do for the climate what Nye Bevan did for health: create something future generations will be proud of, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

"Labour’s great green energy plan could be a legacy as vital as the NHS".

I agree. More power to Ed Miliband's elbow. Sod the haters in the rightwing press. They hate him because he's winning.

I’ve often used the big rental chains (europcar etc) and you just book on their website, can often collect from one dealership and drop off at another.

BUT they usually only let you specify the genre of car (e.g. mini-ish), so you’d probably want to call to confirm if you specifically want a mini

I was able to WFH, so my main memory is of continuing the unfun bits of my life but losing just about all of the things that I’d enjoy doing outside of work to balance it out. It was constantly both boring and depressing.

I liked the lack of road noise though. The birds seemed louder

This seems to hint at some sort of CRISPR-use to me, strongly implying that the government are now gene-editing civil servants. What a time to be alive

Putting this into first past the post is the representative democracy equivalent of throwing darts at a board to decide where you go on holiday. Unpredictable chaos.

The UK is, in factual terms, a multi-party democracy. We urgently need an electoral system that reflects this.

The Pokémon universe goes hard on ecology and climate science The Pokémon franchise, including its recent game Pokémon Pokopia, is inspired by real animals and their ecology. It’s no surprise that so many scientists love to try and “catch ’em all”

Wildlife trade drives animal-to-human pathogen transmission over 40 years

Wildlife trade drives animal-to-human pathogen transmission over 40 years

New in @science.org ‼️ In the most comprehensive study to date, we show that wildlife trade is driving animal-to-human zoonotic spillover at a planetary scale, with +1 spillover per host every 10 years. Live animal markets and illegal trade pose even greater risks. 🔓 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
