Latest odd work missive is an encouragement to "bring your whole self to work" and I.....
Do not think that's a good idea.
I mean, the swearing for a start.

I wish I was better at the second para.
Actually, I think the problem is that I know I ought to be trying to change minds, but yelling is more fun and less work, and makes me feel smart (for a short time).
Sigh.
The problem is basically me.

Spent the afternoon at A&E with Dave - who is ok. Just a virus but you can't be too careful with sailors. Extremely charming A&E doc asked how long we'd been together (partly to ascertain if himself is confused, I think) and then I realised we have reached That Age. (25 years married is the answer).

strange these op-eds about women being too angry have all come out the last few days when during the same time there's also been a massive investigation published on an online rape academy with millions of viewers a month and none of them have bothered to even cover it, even as news

I think there's a great deal to be said for ironing tea towels! Makes them last longer.

If I glare at the ironing pile, it'll do itself, won't it?

Is the answer to the title “Be credibly accused of multiple sexual offences, realise your old career is irrevocably over, and need a new grift asap”?

2/2 ...about what happens when you tell 16 year olds they're part of a "chosen generation" and they're still learning fairly fundamental life skills.
I'm sure it does something a bit odd to your brain.

Dr Lucy Sixsmith Breaks Down the Soul Survivor Generation YouTube video by Sam Howson | Sacrosanct

1/2 I'm late to the party as always, but this is a great interview, full of care.
I wasn't part of Soul Survivor (too old! 😆) but I did have those charismatic Evo experiences in youth groups etc.
This video makes such a great point...

United States Ambassador To Italy Mrs Clare Boothe Luce Listens To The Words Of Pope Pius Xii,During An Audience At The Pontiff'S Lakeside Summer Residence.13 October 1955

American conservative politician Clare Boothe Luce converted to Catholicism in 1946.

In a 1953 meeting with Pope Pius XII, she was fiercely lecturing the pontiff on the Church's moral duty to fight communism when the Pope finally interrupted her.

"You know, Mrs. Ambassador, I am a Catholic too."

This was enlightening. Some fascinating changes. Would be interested to know what the Charity Commission thinks of their board, now.

It's a saying in our household that "It's all house prices in the end" especially when talking about prospects for the young adults.
And it's not all house prices, but a lot of it is.

When a person loses 1 sense the others are heightened. That's why people who have no sense of humor have an amazing sense of self-importance.

For those pretending it's still ok to publish with Unherd

"Marshall founded the Unherd website in 2017 and became the major shareholder of GB News in 2021 before taking over the Spectator and bidding unsuccessfully for the Telegraph"

He's also an investor in Palantir...

Excellent investigation from @bylinetimes.bsky.social

You cannot have a healthy democracy when billionaires can fund media and research institutions to do their reactionary bidding, while their public counterparts are run down

This is an oligarchy at best

It sort of went Stratford to Canning Town to North Greenwich then Clipper to Vauxhall, Victoria and District to Embankment, over the bridge, WATERLOO AND CITY to Bank (he was very excited by this)...

If, God forbid, we get a MAGA style government here with a swivel-eyed Farage playing Trump’s role as the new messiah surrounded by adoring Christian nationalist acolytes, it’ll be because of the connections between James Orr, Peter Thiel & JD Vance that Byline Times is tracing.
