🌱🐓 Having reached the one week milestone, I’m still really happy every day I check on my chickens.

I’ve gotten the first few eggs, and the two salmon colored ladies were already brave enough to take some treats directly from my hand 😌❤️

🍽️ I wrapped up potato week with a potato gratin I had sitting in the freezer from when I made a big batch.🤤
Having a freezer available is such a game changer 😤

This themed week was really fun, I’ll definitely do it again!

🍽️ Today’s addition to potato week is potato salad! 🥗

I went completely off script from how I would normally make one, because the leftovers from yesterday were just sitting there pre-boiled, also I was in no mood to peel them 😂😂

Adding this type of sausage to it is/was common for Christmas btw 👀

If only we had them here as well. Sigh. I should really travel back sometime, I miss it a lot 🥺

(I‘m always offended when friends say they found a „really good Japanese restaurant“ and it‘s a sushi place run by some other asian nationality 😅😵‍💫)

A tortilla was on my list first as well but I never got it to properly stick together, so often I just turn to Japanese tamagoyaki instead, if I want something omelette-y 😅

🍽️ With very little time for cooking I decided to do potato week justice by making the simplest of simple potato dishes - boiled potato with quark 😂😂

No cutting, no effort, few dishes, tasty quark due to a herb blend, a full stomach for hours ☺️👏🏼

That sounds lovely. They are so adaptive and quirky 🤭 I made them nice comfy dark nesting boxes, and so far they just chose a random corner to lay the eggs 😂

Fortunate indeed! Living in a small countryside town has its downsides, but at least everyone is excited about chickens 🤭 All neighbours and passerbys are looking forward for them to be able to go outside 🫣😬

I thank them every day with little treats, so we all get a good snack out of it! 🤭✨

🍽️ I cannot share lunch, as photography is forbidden at work, but it was a Maultasche with potato salad on the side! 😂 Completely unplanned, I had a good laugh.

Tonight’s Vesper is using potato buns, just to stay on theme for potato week 🤓😂
