If there's one thing I've learned in my MPH and experience is that you don't have any idea what public health really is or does, until it goes wrong

We don't pay attention to our water, roll our eyes at infectious diseases nurses being so stringent and not think a childhood illness may mean death

Immigrant healthcare professionals are the heart and backbone of the NHS. Whether it's the scientists who examine your tests to diagnose you, the porters who calm you in times of distress etc.

I witnessed racism as a patient, and its our responsibility to snap back at them - not the HCPs.

Before diagnosed, another immigrant doctor sat by my brothers bed after her own shift monitoring him as she thought he was going to die.

When my sister died, it was our GP, another immigrant doctor who turned up at our house for dinner when alerted to assure my mum it wasn't her fault.

My family owe their lives to immigrant doctors. They tried to resuscitate my sister, diagnosed my brother with an incredibly rare condition before death thus, also saving me and my brother. They operated on my brothers leg 9 times to prevent amputation.

It is for us to challenge this vile rhetoric.

This is the front page of a fraudulent research article that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. The word "RETRACTED" is written across it in large red letters.

Wikipedia: On 28th February 1998, a fraudulent research paper by physician Andrew Wakefield and twelve coauthors, titled "Ileal-Lymphoid-Nodular Hyperplasia, Non-Specific Colitis, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder in Children", was published in the British medical journal The Lancet.[1] The paper falsely claimed causative links between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and colitis and between colitis and autism. The fraud involved data selection, data manipulation, and two undisclosed conflicts of interest.

Today is Retraction Day, when we observe the anniversary of the retraction (Feb. 2, 2010) of the fraudulent paper that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. 🧪#medsky

San Francisco is messed up. Going into voluntary or involuntary treatment doesn't address poverty, and homelessness.

There should also be a regulator for managers working in children's homes too... rampant abuse there too!

Leading the NHS: proposals to regulate NHS managers

I welcome this greatly, as someone who had been removed from a service because a manager decided I was not of any clinical risk by doing so.

There are some truly inspiring NHS managers, but there are some that get promoted upwards instead of removed.

I've had a really difficult few weeks which impacted my studies. A lecturer sent me a lovely email today and I just cried at how kind and understanding it was.

Brought my faith back to academia

📣 Release is recruiting a research lead for a new 4 yr project (Seriously thrilled about this).

Working with unhoused folks we want to explore how housing policies must be inclusive of people who use drugs.
