The famous Andor line is that "tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle." Here is a perfect example of that through malicious compliance: Idaho forced the city of Boise to remove its Pride flags. So the city painted rainbows everywhere else.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

Four embroidery hoops. One is a bowl of pho with actual chop sticks stitched on. A sheep with real roving. A bird sitting on a real stick that says don’t feed the trolls. The back of a young girl in winter gear holding a 3d heart with curly red hair bouncing off the fabric.
Free workshops for chicago teens this month at different libraries! Extra dimensional embroidery. I made these little samples this weekend to help get their creative juices flowing and I am giddy. Still time to register.

I took this photo on the Teign Estuary in Devon in spring 2022. I thought I was just taking a photo of an attractive hole in an old tree. It was only when I got home and looked through my camera roll that I saw the leaping dog, who I'd caught perfectly framed, mid-leap, totally by chance. I remembered the dog immediately, because of what an annoying twat it had been.

This is Scotty. He is not chasing his own tail's shadow. If you'll notice, he actually has it cornered. 13/10 (TT: lifewithscotty)
I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.
He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.
Just lovely.
I represent dozens (yes, dozens) of people raped by guards in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
It sure would be nice if DOJ gave a tenth as much of a shit when it comes to compensating them.

I'm thinking today of all my fellow veterans but especially the more than 5,000 trans service members and their families who were kicked out of the military this year despite being highly qualified and serving honorably. This injustice will be a stain on our nation's history.

NEW: The First Circuit has denied the Trump Admin’s motion to stay in our SNAP case. This means that full benefits should be paid after the SCOTUS stay expires. The court does not mince words about what the government has done here. Congrats to our clients, co-counsel, and @democracyforward.org.
