Hospice UK estimates staff costs will rise from £1.2 billion in 2024 to more than £1.4 billion by 2026/27, driven by increases in National Insurance and the need to keep pace with NHS pay.
Yet statutory funding still covers, on average, just 40% of the cost of care.

The news has come as the government publishes its Commissioning approach for hospice care in Wales, which Hospices UK and Hospice Cymru contributed to.
