If you had imagination
Might reach me with inclination
Understand
I'm not a #brand
I have a heart
I'm not a part
Deep within eternal slumber
You can't see, I'm not a number

Live your life like it won't last forever
This show is a limited run
Go, go, go like it's now or never
Seize your moment in the sun
A sacrifice was made
So you could fly and grow
Will you make the grade?
If you don't try you'll never know

The first week of December is National Grief Awareness Week.

My poem, ‘In Hope of Grief’s Passing’, was first published by @eastridgereview.bsky.social

It features prominently in my chapbook, Along the Home Roads, which explores my own journey through grief.

memory palaces in the feels
lines sculpted in smoke
a mirror in time
quivers close together
dreams of reality written
as the shadows recalled it all

Long winter days
Cold windy night
How I miss the suns rays
The summer's delight
Should I get moving
I really don't know
Blankets so soothing
Must I go?
Shall we keep stalling?
Hells to the no!
Whether walking or crawling
#Yes, on with the show!!

"Found poetry" is a poem written from fragments of already-published works. This poem uses only the first lines from songs by Elton John:

Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
There's a breakdown on the runway And the timeless flights are gone
Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain
It's a human sign When things go wrong

I remember when rock was young
I remember it like it was yesterday
I don't want to worry you none but I got the hurt on the run
And now I know Spanish Harlem are not just pretty words to say

When I think of those East End lights
I can't really explain it, I haven't got the words
I used to be a rolling stone You know if the cause was right
Hey Nikita is it cold In your little corner of the world

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
Turn me loose from your hands
The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side

I've been out here on this road some
I'll say it again this is not my city
I'm not a rat to be spat on locked up in this room
Me and you we're not that pretty

Don't wish it away
We've been crippled in love, short changed, hung out to dry
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
You could never know what it's like

What have I got to do to make you love me
I can hound you if I need to
You tell me there's an angel in your tree
Holy Moses I have been removed

She packed my bags last night pre-flight
I never dreamed I could cry so hard
Sober in the morning light
I can't light no more of your darkness

We've moved on six miles from where we were yesterday
I can see very well
I have to say my friends This road goes a long, long way
Oh the jokes were never hard to tell

I hope the day will be a lighter highway
When I look back boy I must have been green
And I never thought I'd feel this way
Goodbye Norma Jean
