Greg McKeown (Essentialism) describes a CEO who holds a monthly all-day meeting with no phones or email. His rule: if someone can't attend because they're too busy, something is wrong. If you're too busy to think, you're too busy, period.

Early in my career I took longer toilet breaks just to kill time. These days people sneak off to the bathroom just to think. Different problem, same location. That's what happens when you design work with no room for thought.

How does one start a newsletter? Straight to the point?

The first piece goes further into how I set out to write the book on sustainable pace, at a sustainable pace, and eventually failed. It seemed like a fitting place to begin.

You can read it here: substack.com/home/post/p-...

By February, when I finally submitted the manuscript, I had achieved a level of exhaustion usually reserved for people who don't write about avoiding exhaustion.

And because one large writing project apparently wasn't enough, I've now started a newsletter.

I haven't been posting much on the socials. That's because I've been focused on writing a book about #sustainablepace in knowledge work, and nearly burned myself out doing it. That's irony.

The book is out in August. It's called Kestävä työtahti (sustainable pace in Finnish).

@garyseconomics.bsky.social in case you haven't seen this. Looks to me like data backing your argument about the middle class getting squeezed without wealth taxes and when the poor have nothing left anymore to take.

Sounds very interesting! Will it be a KS campaign or retail release, and when might we see it in Europe?

Using Siri is like trying to talk to a 3-year old. Doesn't understand all the words properly or gets them wrong, and most of the time just points you to mommy Google for help.

Apple should just buy Perplexity and replace Siri with it. Then it would be actually useful for more than setting a timer.

My 2013 pocket camera is better than your latest and greatest phone camera — SAMI PAJU My 2013 pocket camera is better than your latest and greatest phone camera.

For everyone who thinks a phone camera makes purpose-built cameras obsolete: samipaju.com/blog/pocket-...

Before you get your knickers all twisted, I'm not saying that you can't take good photos with a phone. Just saying that my 2013 pocket camera is still producing better images.

Reading the 50 Years of Travel Tips -article by @kevinkelly.bsky.social

”For a truly memorable trip, go without reservations, just winging it along the way.”

I would not follow this one in the US. Unless you want to get detained. Everywhere else in the world, except North Korea, not a problem.

And Putin striking Kiev, killing 9 civilians and wounding dozens is not "jeopardizing the peace deal?"

Give me a break.

How about criticizing the aggressor for a change.

Or, actually deal with things like climate change and wealth inequality so that people can have any hope for the future of the planet, or the future of their children.

I doubt there are many who are eager to raise kids to indentured servitude.

"Elon Musk to reduce US government role after Tesla profits plunge."

At this point the only thing that can save Tesla is for Musk to completely detach himself from the brand.

This is not going to help.

If you want to go into argumentation flaws, then how about the fallacy of composition and faulty generalization in the picture?

Koska?

Unohdit myös mainita marsilaiset. Lukuisat elokuvat ovat jo varoittaneet niiden hyökkäyksestä.

You do realise that by making this statement, you are implying that:

1) Trump never lies
2) Trump always says what he does

Both of these are easily falsified.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

We lost the war on truth. It is time to abandon the whole concept In the post-truth era that the United States has entered, we need to remember that truth is and always was a product of cooperation.

Waiting for the "I would drive an EV but my Tesla was vandalized." bumber stickers on muscle cars and other gas guzzlers.

Most EV owners care about climate change, but it's easy to see that flip to a "f it" attitude.

I totally understand boycotting buying new Tesla cars. But if it's already bought, doing this will not help.

Also consider that quite a few Teslas come with free supercharging (lifetime on older models). Which would serve to drain money from Tesla, but not if the car is destroyed.

This is so dumb in so many ways 😔

Burn a Tesla, and the insurance is likely to buy you a new one.

Also, do that to your dentist neighbor and I'm sure he will join your cause 🙄

As long as regular people are at each other's throats, the oligarchs (including Musk) gets to do what they want.

The first thing we do, let's kill all the billionaires. How to resolve wealth inequality before it destroys us all.

Don't let the title fool you. If you want things to get better, it's time to tax wealth, not work. This one's worth reading for its details. It's information everyone who is of voting age and living in a democracy should know.

I think some policies will just replace with same or similar model. Also to prevent fraud where people would use insurance when they get dissatisfied with their purchase and want to change brands.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

I wonder if people burning Tesla's realise, that one likely consequence is that an insurance company will just pay for a new Tesla to replace the burnt one.

So instead of a Tesla owner buying just one car, even more money will flow to Tesla and Musk.

I tried the viral $20 strawberry. It tasted like the end of the American empire A single strawberry flown in from Japan is selling for $20 in a hip LA grocery store. Does it symbolize the worst of American excess, or is it simply delicious?
