Two thoughts came immediately to mind after reading this:

1. Oh my God, this is appalling, are we irremediably broken?

And

2. Jesus is @jodikantor.bsky.social a badass.

This is how far gone I am when it comes to The Pitt: I had a dream last night that when I came to work (at some generic magazine office) Dr. Santos was there and told me she hated my sweater so I went home and immediately changed

I don’t understand why the markets are still yoked to what the President says when the only throughline is incoherence and erraticism.

Opinion | The Epstein Class Had a Signature Weakness

Brilliant op-ed today by @jacobweisberg.bsky.social—an irresistible read and a genuinely original framing of a subject about which I thought nothing more could be said. Crystallizes an enduring cultural phenomenon we should all think about. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/30/o... via @NYTOpinion

Didn’t know that. Well, my ER friend and ICU nurse friend vacation together, so maybe there’s still a common bond? (Different hospitals, maybe that helps.) You know that the handsome, gray-haired nurse on the show is an actual ER nurse, right?

I am obsessed with doc and nurse responses to the Pitt. Am dear pals with both a ER doc AND an ICU nurse and am always searching for their feedback. So fascinating to hear you say…

How Vietnam Inflamed the Civil Rights Movement

Of course @bstaples.bsky.social, who at the NYT produced one gem after another about forgotten histories of African Americans, writes a sharp review here, about the cynical deployment of Black Americans to Vietnam and the grotesque internal discrimination they faced. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/09/b...

The normalization of this kind of discourse and imagery and stunt is one of the most insidious poisons to have seeped into modern GOP politics.

Anecdata:

—Life in DC in recent months has been shadowed by omnipresence of National Guard. But almost no one "hates" the NG members, or blames them. They're doing their best, mostly ramping down rather than amping up tensions.

—People around the US fear and *hate* ICE and CBP cowards. For cause.
