Digital painting of a dusk sky: it is getting dark, but the gauzy cirrus are still bearing some slight purple and pink tones. There is Jupiter glowing in the sky.
We report: spring night sky in the Northern Hemisphere. Venus vanishes behind the horizon soon after sunset, Jupiter remains for a bit. When it gets dark, before midnight, we see Procyon and Capella, Castor and Pollux, Sirius, Betelgeuse and Aldebaran (our favourite neighbours).

Digital painting of a sunrise sky: behind the clouds, it is a pale blue, but it is mostly overcast. The clouds are long, a bit scraggly, shades of pastel pink, bright pink, and purple, with another layer of blue-grey on top.
We report: lately, there is a lot of pink in the sky. It is the last bright colour we see in the evening, and the first one we see in the morning. It rains over it, today - not much, but it washes the pink off, and we watch it flow down the drains. It leaves a chill in the air.

Digital painting of a wide sky, large cirrus spanning the width of the frame, with cumulus moving in rows in the bottom third of it.
We report: today again, there was rain in the morning. It went away before noon, and ever since, the sky has been especially large and bright. We are standing against the wind, so the clouds are moving towards us and over our head. The air is light, full of pollen.

Digital painting of a voluminous, slightly fuzzy cloud caught in golden sunset light, with the blue sky in the background.
We report late afternoon, as the clouds are parting ahead of the night. The light grows warmer while the air gets colder. We will not be here when the sun sets, so we can only trust that it will all go well, in the correct order, the right direction and angle.

Digital painting of a dark, cloudy sky, featuring an odd pattern of large pouches hanging from the clouds. The clouds are dark grey, but light is shining through gaps in between the pouches.
We report: this time, we were there as the mammatus were forming, instead of catching them as they were melting back into the sky. It was a single ripple that first caught our eye, and then we watched the clouds carve themselves into the pattern. We started feeling really small.

In an Intense Election Year, New Post Office Rules Could Trip Up Voter Registration - Bolts
A change in how mail is postmarked could lead some voters to miss key deadlines, including voter registration. Advocates worry the people most affected will be those already facing voting barriers.
NEW: The USPS changed its rules on how it postmarks ballots.
This may affect elections at every stage at which there's a mail deadline.
An underplayed one: VOTER REGISTRATION.
Many voters who send in their registration forms by mail could be postmarked late, missing out without realizing it.

Digital painting of a pre-dawn countryside landscape. It is misty, the sky is low and cloudy, blue from the dim morning light. There is a foggy field, and a wet road covered in puddles in the foreground. There are bare trees on both sides, and a low wooden fence on the side of the road.
We report: it is difficult to get rid of the damp these days, the way it has penetrated everything and everywhere around us. Our expert’s shoes hardly ever get to dry in between days of trodding through puddles and wet grass. It is not quite raining yet, this morning.

At long last, they’re here!
Just in time for Valentines Day outfits… I illustrated these scarves with anatomical hearts, veins, arteries, and little jewel-like droplets of blood.
Both are pure silk, and neither will ever be released again.

Digital painting of a blue sky, with a wispy, scraggly sort of white cloud in the middle. It is surrounded by slightly more solid, small grey clouds on all sides.
We report: our expert has been complaining of a pebble in their shoe for a bit; they take a moment to sort it out when the rain lets up. As we look up, the clouds are moving to the same pace as our breathing, travelling from one end of the sky to the other in great strides.

Small post card sized painting made with paint markers. There is a black bird in the middle with beige, red and white details. The bird is walking fast toward something on the left side. There are more red and beige details in otherwise white the background in a floral form.
One step at a time!

Digital painting of a busy sky, sprawling storm cells rising into bright blue, with scattered grey clouds in the top right corner of the frame. The lower clouds are long and dark, moving in the shadows of the cumulonimbus. There is bright sunlight catching the tops of the clouds where it can.
We report under lively skies: the atmospheric pressure forecast maps looked strange this morning. There were high-pressure areas stuck between low-pressure areas, and the patterns of diverging winds that emerged made little sense to us. The resulting weather is adequately odd.

Digital painting of a slightly washed out blue sky, with a very thin cirrus cover over a good half of it. There are long, scraggly, wispy white cirrus scattered across the frame; in the centre, one of the clouds is a bright, solid white with iridescent edges. The light is coming from the left-hand side, a slightly yellow swathe.
We report: the sun is obscured by the clouds, but there is a bright castaway to the side - almost brighter than the sun itself. The weather has been frazzled all day, so we came out in full rain gear, but the scales will not dip one way or another. We end up needing sunglasses.

Digital painting of a seascape at twilight, dark blue sky overlooking the choppy dark blue sea, with a swath of pink on the horizon.
We report: when we come here, we know it will be much windier than everywhere else, and in the winter, the ocean wind is always harsh. It gets in our ears and rearranges every thought and memory we have ever had, until we too feel like wind and water. This is why we come here.

Digital painting of a night landscape: a dark grey, opaque sky above distant mountains, and marsh land in the foreground. There is a pond with clods covered in grass emerging from the water. There are hazy lights glowing above the mountains, lending a greenish tint to the sky there.
We report: in the depths of bog country, the will-o’-the-wisps of distant city lights are keeping the sky three shades above full darkness. This is not enough light to observe the night life we hear, no matter how much we squint. We still think we see things move above the water.
