Politicians are swearing like sailors these days.
We analyzed 6 years of posts and found the top offenders — mostly Democrats, who say it's an expression of anger over Trump.
"I’m a pretty nice guy, but I swear and I say fuck a lot," Rep Robert Garcia said.

oh, hello! Sorry, I’m not on here much. Weasel is a new one. But you know, we put out a statement on this a while back: bsky.app/profile/nyti...
hello Slymm, we put out a statement on this a while back. It’s not against protocol. I don’t generally delete things but in this case I felt better to let NYT speak directly on the issue: bsky.app/profile/nyti...

Horrific Kings win vs the Nets when we absolutely need to tank.
Playing Monk and DeRozan in the clutch. Fouling up 3 to guarantee win. Kings announcers spouting anti-tanking propaganda about avoiding a “losing culture” (little late for that!)
Terrible organization top to bottom.
The latest ambitious politician to go on Stephen A…Kevin Kiley?
(no Sacramento Kings talk, sadly)

Part of Kat Abughazaleh’s concession speech here in #IL09, where she called out the AIPAC-tied super PAC spending in her race.
“We had millions in AIPAC spending, dark money smear campaigns, institutional power tipping the scales, and we made them use their entire arsenal.”

Two Friday night news dumps from California Republicans made vulnerable by redistricting:
-Darrell Issa is retiring
-Kevin Kiley is running for reelection as an independent

My look yesterday at the political switcharoo in Montana, where Steve Daines dropped his re-election bid at the last minute in an effort to anoint his Republican successor. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/05/u...
This is what makes me scared to draft Cameron Boozer
AOC came to Munich to warn about the far-right. Coverage focused on 2028 and verbal missteps.
She gave me a call to discuss.
“Everyone’s got this story wrong, that this is about me running for president,” she said. “Global democracies are on fire the world over.”

Went to La Crosse, Wis., to hear Pete Buttigieg’s latest town hall.
He and other potential 2028 candidates, like Cory Booker and AOC, are offering a preview of how Democrats could take back the House: hammer Republicans on their Medicaid and health care votes.

They Wanted a Conservative State. They Might Get a Democratic Representative Instead.
The passage of Proposition 50, which redrew California’s congressional map, means that all of the state’s conservative north is likely to be represented by Democrats.

Maybe because this is a story about the situation in rural Northern California? It’s not a feature about the gerrymanders elsewhere…though those are certainly relevant in the broader redistricting battle, hence their mention.
Hope you enjoyed the photos!

Marc Benioff, who once donated to Democrats, told @heatherknightsf.bsky.social that he thinks Trump should send the National Guard into San Francisco.
“I fully support the president,” he said. “I think he’s doing a great job.”

You can cling to the idea that I’m out to write a hit piece on Mamdani. That doesn’t make it true, sorry.
In fact, here’s a story I wrote asking whether other Dems could learn from him. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/u...
I’m simply replying to the criticism. Happy to engage with it, but some people are implying things about the story that just aren’t there!
And yes, I do think it’s good for public trust to engage.
Very whiny to be asking questions.
You might be confusing me with someone else? I never covered crypto
Oof. Hard to say which of those was worse at this point
Missed this. You have a lot of criticisms, but will address 2:
-The reason for singling out the “top” filers is it’s a potential data point re maybe high-income individuals are leaving.
-Would have liked to include Tiffany! I had a quote from her but got cut for space. 2 other DSA ppl quoted.
You wouldn’t call Trump saying he’d deploy the National Guard “escalating”?
Yep, that’s all I do, you nailed it. Great work.
thanks for the idea
I’m sorry, I just don’t agree. There is certainly a pro-socialist sentiment, as evidenced by the city council members being elected! There’s backlash to them. The conflict is playing out as Portland has big problems, some depicted in photos. I don’t think it’s hard to grasp both of those things.
Well, a lot of people have thoughts! Sorry to not get to everyone
lol
