Btw I think the reason we are all so mad at the beds in sheds stuff is not just because it's a bad thing per se (though it certainly is), but because it is a symptom of decades of catastrophically failed policy that is now being presented as a solution

Can we talk about how harassment and borderline stalking of trans women by gender critical activists has become entirely normalised?

Why can’t a trans woman do a bloody Parkrun without having her privacy violated and her data amassed on a website?!

Woodquay is the most Irish (derogatory) traffic/parking mess I can think of

I would love for the council to grow a pair and just make it an actual plaza or something

The landlords a right cunt tho, since I somehow forgot to specify that

I think it technically is illegal - if not inappropriate use of licence, then by overcrowding
But people are desperate to keep a roof over their heads - another overcrowding case a few years ago left people homeless if I remember right

That's a tenement

May no landlord in this country know a peaceful nights rest again

The level of racist and misogynist abuse currently being levelled at Eileen Flynn online is horrendous

A protestor who blocked the port protesting the genocide in Gaza had his wrist broken when thrown to the ground by Gardaí.

I've been shoved and threatened for daring to get close to shutting down the access road to Shannon Airport.

It's amazing how different the Gardaí's response is here...

Actually I would be happy for the EU to do this.

If climate protesters had blocked roads for as long as the fuel protesters did, there would be people on the radio demanding the army be called in to shoot them all

Large number of parents seek shift to multidenominational ethos in schools Almost three-quarters of parents with children in single-sex schools said they would like to see those schools transition to coeducational

When church and state collaborated on making our education system, the government were looking towards the next election but the church were looking at the next century.

They knew they'd be asked to leave so they developed a system making that almost impossible.

Do you mind me asking what are the concerns?
Concerta XL is a slow release medication, so it works a bit differently
Most stimulant meds are going to be different for everyone - dosage and particular type of med are generally a trial and error from people I've talked to

What context? Like, experience overall or side effects or logistics
Concerta reg or XL? The delay on dosage is a bit different

Why raising the Irish minimum wage is not bad for business Studies suggest that increasing the minimum wage has very little impact on employment.

Ireland has increased its minimum wage year after year for the last decade.

During that time, plenty of business groups have warned that the move could lead to job losses. However, study after study shows that has not actually happened. jrnl.ie/7001863

I know it's bait
But how can a person be so out of touch as to talk about families living off of one income? That hasn't been realistic in 20 years

No resolution yet for rules on back-garden building Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents have still not worked out how best to allow people to build modular homes without planning permission in their back gardens.

imagine creating a so called 'housing solution' where tenants would have no rights www.rte.ie/news/analysi... " the tenants would not have security of tenure, and they would not be under the gaze of the Residential Tenancies Board" (how RTÉ can reduce regulation to 'gaze' is beyond me)

Have we considered that most people don't want to live in a fucking shed?

Anyone running a website that doesn’t support fadas and similar characters in the year 2026 should be ashamed of themselves. The technology is available, it’s pure laziness.

Look, there may be a perfectly legitimate reason this is happening
There probably is

But there is a significant bit of my brain going 'did this not come up in testing? Surely it would'

It takes real effort to kill a British king and not even get grudging respect for it in Ireland.

3 weeks ago 50 6 1 0

Absolutely not. Nip this in the bud. Our Gardaí do not need to take steps towards the kind of impunity seen in the states. It's beyond dangerous.
Their job is to protect the public above all else. If their role is to uphold the law they need to be beholden to it #spéirgorm

I mean this is perhaps the most salient point in all of this discourse, though I think this is much truer in former imperial metropoles than in former colonies, like Ireland. Still, it's not automatically the case that even postcolonial states revile perpetrators of atrocity or remove statues etc.
