There's a lot of work and learning to do, forever really, but I hope to find others who can teach me and help me grow.

For a long time, I was just an edgy atheist. As I lost my edginess I found myself open to spirituality, but ultimately still atheist. Hermann Hesse pushed me over the edge. Luckily, a good friend of mine suggested I read the Upanishads, which opened quite a world for me.

#Advaita teaches that we are a reflection of the infinite #Brahman. It would be considered irrational to try and divide what is all encompassing. As a wave appears part of the infinite ocean, it is non-different. The sun reflected in a million raindrops appears as a million suns, but it is only one.

To me: As an almighty, ever present god, what else is there to do than create? Who else is there to be but you? suffering is part of the play of Brahman. A man in heaven would certainly never try to leave. Do good, work incessantly for others, find yourself.

Why did God create this world of great suffering? The answer should apply for any belief system.
There can be no reason why, for any almighty that one may worship can not be compelled by cause. The matter if faith springs forward from this question.

"It is better to strive in one's own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another. Nothing is ever lost in following one's own dharma, but competition in another's dharma breeds fear and insecurity."

Go into your own room and get the Upanishads out of your own self. You are the greatest book that ever was or ever will be, the infinite depository of all that is. Until the inner teacher opens, all outside teaching is in vain. - Swami Vivekananda

Being a particularly emotionally closed off man, it's wonderful that all of my emotional defenses completely melt away in the presence of my daughters.

Don't let your mind deceive you and your eyes. The lines we draw are our own creations. Even in nature, our classifications are arbitrary. There was no tree before it was called a tree, no leaves upon them, it was just part of this whole. To forget this illusion is one of the ultimate goals #brahman

Luckily heresy is not the same conceptually as Western countries in #hindu tradition. My point:
#Krishna's marked androgynous beauty is a dangerous thirst trap. I wouldn't hesitate to refer to this divinely powerful and beautiful man as twinked up. Another one of my favorite personal gods. Graceful

That is full, this is full,
From that fullness comes this fullness,
If you take away this fullness from that fullness,
Only fullness remains

#kali, she is a personal favorite of mine. Representing the divine feminine energy. To me, the unashamed and unconcerned nature of the material world. Standing upon #shiva, she is united with the stoic power of the divine observer.

Hermann Hesse:

"It may be important to great thinkers to examine the world, to explain & despise it. But I think it is only important to love the world, not to despise it, not for us to hate each other, but to be able to regard the world and ourselves & all beings with love, admiration & respect."

I'm really just a rural white boy that has gotten really into #Advaita Vedanta. There's a lot of learning to do. I've found strong interest in Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna P. I love #Hindu art and would love page suggestions.

Evangelion's Christian aesthetics fit beautifully with the nature of many hindu belief systems. Aside from this, the beauty of Vishnu and his forms makes a fitting background to the cosmic nature of Eva's story
