Trump has ordered the Treasury to send him $10 billion in cash & $10 billion for a slush fund (on top of the $200 million in cash stolen from Venezuela for another slush fund), on top of $10+ billion gotten from foreign governments in exchange for favors, but do go on about not taking a salary ...
Counterpoint:
-No it isn't.
-And yes you are.

Dear Sen Schumer and Gillibrand, do not cave on the funding for DHS. Take money away from ICE/CPB from the 2025 BBB to fund TSA and FEMA. No more funding for concentration camps!
Just out: world corruption perceptions index.
The US ranks 29th. Between Bahamas and Brunei.

Not watching the game, but the halftime show was awesome.
Here’s the situation in the Twin Cities:
Random Bovino-style tear-gassing: Way down
Relentless persecution of immigrants: Unchanged
Thuggish violence against observers: Way up

If true, they don’t live in MPLS, they live in the suburbs.
Reminder #1142 that we have a toddler as president.
I know with all that is going on in the world, teaching Intro to US Government isn’t such a big deal. But I really wish I wasn’t teaching it.
The unitary executive can set the curriculum at Harvard, order the owners to change the names of professional sports teams, throw his enemies in prison, close a Cabinet-level Department, but he is powerless to ask the sycophants he put in place in the FBI and DOJ to release the Epstein files.
I love soccer. But FIFA is a truly horrible organization.
Hey, hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?
A deeply frustrating aspect of our current stupid trade war is that this eventuality has been perfectly predictable for years and Congress left the Chekhov's gun of tariff emergency powers just sitting there b/c neither party wants to disempower the presidency even a little bit

I did the same training this week and thought the same thing. And remember the appearance of impropriety is enough to be an ethics violation!

“Hack” is a gentle word for him.
4/4 Does anyone know of any likely explanations? Johnson said again this weekend he doesn't have a bank account. He says a person of modest means.
3/4 The federal government generally requires direct deposit, typically a bank account. (Maybe members are exempt from this?) He does report mortgages. It is tough to get a mortgage without bank statements. This is really strange.
2/4 The FDIC says 2.7% of households making $75k or more are unbanked. For white households above 75K, it is 0.3%. Aside from lack of money, the most common reasons for not having a bank account are a lack of faith in the banking system and a desire for privacy.
1/4 Mike Johnson's financial disclosure have made me wonder how common it is for someone who makes at least $174k (the salary of US House members) don't have a bank account. This 2021 FDIC study reports it is unusual. www.fdic.gov/analysis/hou...
