The tax thresholds do need changing. A redundancy payment can put someone on half of his salary in a higher tax bracket and even make you lose your allowance for a tax year and then HMRC claw it back. Really can mess with budgeting. Bit of an edge case, but they do need to update the thresholds.

ahh OK - is that a Intel based one? . There's some utility in that then for sure. Normally i'd recommend CachyOS Linux, but it's really aimed at fairly recent CPU's. Fedora works well on 2012 era Laptop chips and Ubuntu/Mint. 👍

i just got a new machine for similar everyday stuff..... i went used (mint condition). Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1 (gen 8) - made from Aluminium - £478 - Intel i7-1365U (16GB RAM) - i swapped out the SSD for a 1TB one I had spare. Most business laptops appear to be going back to 16:10 ratio screen. 👍
