February 5-6th, 2008:
The Super Tuesday 2008 Tornado Outbreak has been one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in the US, with 59 fatalities reported. So far, it ranks in the top 15 deadly tornado outbreaks (and the highest number of tornado deaths since 1985).

#PurePowder in central #VTwx. #Snow still coming down after about 10 inches overnight. Temp up to 5F! #Vermont
Going on 10” this morning in central Vt with 16:1 SLR. Most of the snow falling in temps a few degrees blo 0F!
Or a cat.
Best #solar power day in central #VTwx today since Oct. 29, 2025! Made 2x more electricity than I used. In January! In #Vermont!
Successful at a deck #de-ICE this afternoon. Also, protested in Woodstock. This is such a bullshit excuse for an “Executive Branch”. Take back Congress later this year and impeach ASAP, and freaking convict the felon this time for crying out loud!
It doesn't happen often and may not last but we hit the #VTwx CoCoRaHs snowfall jackpot with 4.5 inches of snow overnight. Now a foot on the ground and we can start thinking about getting the snowshoes out. Bummer that weekend warmth and rain will steal some of this away. :-( #Vermont
I first wrote and cron’d the script that makes these @NWSSPC upper air maps in November 1998. It’s been running and making the twice-daily UA maps for the past 27 years at this URL: www.spc.noaa.gov/obswx/maps/. That’s over 138,000 maps online and it’s still going!

The sun is highlighting the leaves of an orange maple tree in autumn. A red barn stands in the background.
Here's my autumn photo for today.

I captured this image in Wexford County Michigan with my Nikon D700.
October 12 #sunrise hits the Delectable Mountains of central #Vermont & highlights a hay field and layers of altocumulus #clouds. #VTwx
A chilly October 12 #sunrise hits the Delectable Mountains of central #Vermont with a dry hay field and layers of altocumulus #clouds. #VTwx
Identified Flying Lenticular #cloud saucers earlier today followed by unusual wet hydrometeors. #VTwx
Would be neat to see an animation of this across 100 NH summer seasons.
Foliage color is now peaking across parts of drought-ravaged central Vermont. Picture shows a dry meadow with colorful trees and a small raised bed garden in the foreground.
Drought has contributed to a lot of brown and orange leaves. I’m gonna call it peak #foliage color in my backyard in central #Vermont! #VTwx
Beautiful #foliage nearing peak in spots on #VTwx I-91 north, and east along US Route 2 into #NHwx today. Some trees were vibrant red & golden yellow in the bright sunshine. Many areas should have (or develop) fantastic color through the end of the month but some rain would also be welcome.
Drought has really influenced foliage this year. Still some colors popping out but many trees are losing leaves fast.
Well that escalated quickly
