Thanks, Johanna. You’re right about one day at a time, which is hard for an impatient person to accept. I hope you are well.

Oh Jacqui, it’s such a long process. I still have to use a walker and going upstairs is nearly impossible. But I’m so glad to be home. I hope you and yours are well.

@borsetshireblue.bsky.social dear Olwen, thank you for your concern and support. I broke a knee in a fall and was in a rehab center for months as the knee healed and i learned to walk again. I was pretty much in another world, one in which I didn’t connect with the Archers or with blue sky.

Chris?

A reasonable point, given his history.

Of course I acknowledge that he specializes in being obnoxious and & threatening. And yes, younger kids than he have asked for and gotten psychological help. Yes. But in Ambridge, no. He's done something revolutionary and should be given a victory lap, not a kicking to the curb.

Yes, I think seeing Dr. Malik was a great first step. Later, he definitely acted out of fear, retreating to behavior that had worked in the past. But the appt with Dr. Malik? Very cool of him, especially at 19.

But they didn't pay attention to him having gone to a doctor, etc. He's more upset than are they about his sudden bursts; he's trying to deal with it in a responsible way. Not the usual behavior of abusers.

Yikes. That was brutal and the gang approach didn't ring true. As you say, they didn't try in the least to hear what he was saying. It didn't ring true for me and I think Ed will be completely upset by their kicking him out. Hoping Neil and Susan have a room free.

Wow. Delete the Grundy phone number from my phone. Not the people to turn to immedately after spilling your guts to them about this non understandable stuff going on in your head that takes over when you are angry. Kick you to the curb, they will. Forget support. They don't know the word.

I hope he'll go to Neil and Susan. Neil especially has known George has issues that need work and of course Susan, as we know, knows her stuff.

Have unfortunately witnessed that. People have never "ganged up" in my viewing. Rather, a desperation to help, talking to each other and always calling of doctors. I know, I know, different circumstances.

It was ham-handed, the dialog, the direction, the acting. Too much to cover in a few minutes...unlike the more usual slo-mo unreeling.
Just 3 words, George: Neil and Susan.

NPR is our trusted station in the U.S.--especially in the eastern U.S. Thanks for posting this.

Although the details are different, the underlying threat seems similar. When we met Rob's parents, neither was very much approving, preferring to approve when their version of things was followed. 2. Rob raped. Repeatedly. 3. Rob was vicious with kids.

Okay. I cede to your greater understander of those involved. I do think someone who was not interested in him would have found a better intermediary than herself to deliver her message that he should stay away from her, from Hannah, etc.

You're right about his age, and he's an immature 19 at that. Part of why she's horrified, I think.

There have been several attempts, to give various of them help. Oliver comes most to mind. Problem is, the Grundies don't seem to understand how to make the most of a favor offered...

She seems slightly attracted to him? If so, I imagine she both horrified and turned-on? And looks for ways to see him? Possible?

Maybe this falls in the category of ironic remarks you are so good at, but maybe you feel as do I that this is George going around, unable to say Please want me, and instead being defensive toward most? And Fallon seems to have strong feelings for him, positive ones, no?

Right. Thanks for that. I wonder if there are many unhappy couples staying together because one of them was the inheritor? And to split would mean paying off the non-inheritor, not unlike paying a wife for her years of work when there's a divorce?

oh thanks for that. You're right, I was grabbing on to it as relevant. I hope you and yours have wonderful holidays, full of happiness and good things. XXXX

I thought it might work as part of the odd version of the Odd Couple. You know, the permanently enraged Martyn trying occasionally to do a good thing, such as making cookies when Alice is expected.

Now that he knows about Chris's situation will he insist that Chris live with him until there's plumbing and whatever else is missing in the flat upstairs. Will we have a tortured version of the Odd Couple? Is Chris left with Neil and Susan or Martyn as his housemate possibilities?

Given Josh's history, I think they would waive famial connections, though, don't you? Esp. as she has none of the 5-7 years of experience looked for. There seems to be lots of wiggle room in the decision, and they could get an early reading from the people mentioned in the article.

Thanks, Miranda. All new info to me, so you've given me a great place to start to understand. Is the 1984 date relevant? I think the number of 30 years has been said, which would place the father's tenancy toward the end of the century, if I heard the 30 correctly. Thanks again.

It was full of people conversing. I loved that. Thanks to the Sw for lots of interesting filling in the cracks dialogue.

Better idea. Offer them small branches from body of your tree and help them pose the bunnies among the greens now amassed on the sill. Ditch from your view the hanging tree!
