bookriot.com/book-bans-an... Book bans affect us all, even those of us in “safe” blue states. And they’ve had a toxic effect on #kidlit publishing.

ARCs for NOTHING TO SEE HERE (Scholastic/Oct 20, 2026) have landed! Also available on Edelweiss and next month on NetGalley!
Thanks, Sarah. And some days it’s harder than others.
Kid: What’s the hardest part about being an author?
Me: To write fiction, you need to be a sensitive person, bc you need to be hyper aware of people’s feelings, including yr own. But you also need to be tough, bc an author’s life is full of rejection & criticism. And that combo is hard to pull off.
So great to hear. Thank you!!
For Women’s History Month, the ALSC recommends “four engaging middle grade novels…that bring women’s history to life.” And one of them is TEAR THIS DOWN 🗳️! www.alsc.ala.org/blog/2026/03...
Hi #TLSkyChat! Middle grade author here—who loves working with teachers and librarians! Thanks for the chance to connect!
Great to hear! 🥰
Same. If you discover the secret portal to all that, please share with me.
Some publishers are cutting back on print ARCs—but digital ARCs are on NetGalley & Edelweiss. Not everyone can access though.
And yes, the loss of BEA (& scaling back of conferences like ALA and NCTE) are challenges for sure. Plus…book bans/soft censorship. The loss of Twitter is just one issue.
Yes, it’s sad that we lost Twitter. It really helped us connect, and nothing’s replaced it. One more challenge for us all in the book/education/library world.
I mainly post on FB and Instagram. Used to love X for kidlit interaction pre-Elon, and was quite active there (regularly participated in Twitter chats, did book giveaways, etc). I show up here and on Threads to read the zeitgeist, but miss the engagement with authors, teachers, librarians & readers.
Thank you!! ❤️
Thank you so much for including TEAR THIS DOWN on this fantastic list!
Honored that TEAR THIS DOWN is nominated for the 2017 Oklahoma Library Association intermediate Sequoyah Award (Grades 6-8)!
Happy birthday, Judy Blume! 🙌
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Happy news—TEAR THIS DOWN is on the ALA’s 2026 Rise:A Feminist Book Project List!

National Basketball Players Association issued this statement.
"They say they're coming to save us from some evil? They're talking about our neighbors who take care of us ... Alex was murdered while he was helping. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."
Roz Chast, of course
TEAR THIS DOWN is putting paperback today‼️
When I wrote this book in 2024, I was thinking about the upcoming election, and the attacks on women’s rights and voting rights.
Of course I couldn’t foresee what’s happening in Minneapolis. So for me, this book hits different now.
Thanks so much, Debbie! Hoping this book sparks some necessary conversations!
I’m in love with the cover of my next novel, NOTHING TO SEE HERE (Scholastic, October 20, 2026)—a multi-POV story about eighth graders posting fake rumors online to show classmates the dangers of anonymous gossip on social media.
