Yours, perhaps! Here in Canada, we have our own fish to fry. Trust me, no one in Edmonton, Alberta was commenting on some local issue in your country.

It was probably inappropriate and non-senatorial of me to start fact-checking foreign folks in such a bossy tone. But oh my gosh that was so frustrating to witness.
You are being incredibly gracious, given the tone deaf stupidity of the American “progressives” attacking you because they completely misunderstood the local context of your original post. Their dog piling, and their inability to understand that not everyone is American, was so disheartening.
Honestly, watching you “progessive” Americans attack and attack a truly progressive Indigenous Canadian city councillor who is criticizing a conservative provincial government is making me despair for your reason. Please stop. We are our own country with our own politics.
Not to mention Cree syllabics!
😉

No. It’s not.
I hate to break it to you - most Canadians, even politically active ones, had no idea that some US state was having an election. There are actually other countries in the world and sometimes those of us who live in them discuss domestic politics.
Oh my gosh! You are talking to a progressive Indigenous community leader in Canada!
Not about America.
No.
He isn’t. He is criticizing gerrymandering by a right wing government in Alberta. Please stop.
He’s a progressive Indigenous city councillor, from a progressive city, voicing his concerns about a right-of-centre provincial government.
You have no idea how many Americans just assume I’m a member of the US Senate, and demand various things of me accordingly. Also one American on Mastodon who accused me of pretending to be a Senator, because I wasn’t on his list of US senators!
But as a lawyer, you might also have taken a second to check where the councillor was posting from?
My dude, you are attacking a respected Indigenous city councillor from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, who is commenting on a local political fight. Not everything is about America.
That would be great!
Why should Alberta stay in Canada? The reasons aren’t just economic or legal. I hope you will read and share my robust rebuttal to those trying to break up our country. And I hope you’ll respond. #cdnpoli #Alberta #ableg #abpoli #Canada #SenateofCanada
I have launched - if you’ll pardon the expression - a Senate inquiry into this whole situation. #cdnpoli #SenateofCanada #spacejunk #Saskatchewan #yyc #Canada #SpaceX #Starlink
This story was breaking just as our Senate Standing Committee on Transport and Communications was deep in our morning hearing on AI. So just as the committee testimony wrapped up, I snuck in this question. #ableg #abpoli #YouTube #AI #cdnpoli #SenateofCanada #TRCM #Alberta #ForeignInterference
I just had my staff pull the clip of my question...which came, just as the story broke, at the end of today's Transport and Communications hearing on AI in Canada. youtu.be/0HAgoeteUcI?... #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #SenateofCanada #TRCM #AI
I spent my first couple of years as a Senator, pre Covid, with a near-perpetual cold. I flew twice every week, and hosted a viral buffet. Now, I mask every flight, and so far - touch wood - I’ve gone all winter without a sniffle. People laugh and even yell at me sometimes. But my nose isn’t stuffy!
I would 100% listen
I raised this very issue in a Senate committee this morning.
Fascinating story by @charlesrusnell.bsky.social on intersection of AI and foreign interference in Alberta’s separation campaign. It raises many troubling questions. Who is paying for AI slop disinformation? And who is consuming it? And how on earth can those on the No side compete? #ableg #abpoli

I asked for a tour of Convocation Hall and the organ loft while I was there, in fact. I had a lot of questions about the whole plan.
