March on the Bike
Thankfully much more time for riding this month: less performing and more willingness to get wet.
I recommend the book “Life After Cars,” which spotlights the harms to cities from car culture.
Great rides with Bradley, Jamie, Tom and a peloton from “Cycling Over 60.”
February on the Bike
I will be riding the Tour de Cure to fight diabetes in May. Any donations are welcome. The Seattle bike Swap is always fun and enjoyed seeing Tom. I took a fun cycle/ferry trip to Frost Custom Brass for a couple of mouthpieces.
Great rides with @bradleyhawkins.bsky.social
Siracusa was referring to the desktop Mac Pro—theoretically the most powerful computer in the Apple line up—not the laptop top.
January on the bike
An unusual dry spell meant Il Falco came down off the wall for some winter rides: she is usually a summer only bike.
Heartened by the strength of Minneapolis and the memorials to Alex Pretti by cyclists around the country.
Great rides with Blake and Bradley
December on the bike
Too much work limited my ride time this month, but I did manage to eke out my yearly goal of 7,000 miles, though all of my totals were down from the previous two years. Seattle is a beautiful place to ride, even when it is cold and wet.
Great rides with Bradley and Jamie
Toilet paper is still pretty cheap.
November on the bike
Ride time limited by travel, work and weather. And inertia. There were definitely a few lazy days mixed in. Always fun to see a hang glider over the Magnolia bluffs.
Great rides with @bradleyhawkins.bsky.social and his Susan, and with my Susan (The Little Wife™️).
AND a handicap ramp as well! Impressively bad parking!
One must wonder if the reason that he crashed in the first place was that he had already cracked open a bottle😏
October on the bike
17 rehearsals/concerts in 14 days took a big bite out of my October riding and I let the rain slow me down as well. Stopped by Metiér and met Petit Pierre: awesome baked goods!
Great rides with @bradleyhawkins.bsky.social , Blake, Jamie, Ryan, Tom and The Little Wife™️
September on the bike
More commuting and errands on the bike than ever before and miles in the car lower than ever.
Great new bike infrastructure opening throughout the area. First Waymo sighting!
Great rides with Ben, Blake, @bradleyhawkins.bsky.social , Isabelle, Stephen, and The Little Wife™️
August on the bike
August began with a 5,000+ ft. climb up to Hurricane Ridge, for Ride the Hurricane. The following week I was on Whidbey performing for a conductor’s institute which meant some great island riding.
Great rides with Ben, Blake, Bradley, Ryan and Susan.
Walk the waterfront from the ferry terminal to the sculpture garden.

A one day Seattle to Portland (STP) gave me a new longest ride of 207 miles. Gravel rides over Stampede and Tacoma Passes; Iron Horse from North Bend to Hyak.
Great rides with Ben, Bradley, Brad, Eric, Greg, Jamie, and 6,000 of my closest friends
June on the bike

Gran Fondo: 6/15 (62.8 miles) No Kings
In Issaquah, Kenmore and Seattle thousands were protesting at No Kings.
Great rides with Blake, Bradley, Jamie, The Little Wife™️, and Tom Butler
May on the bike
Two rides of 100k or more: May 24 (66.64 miles) and May 31 (100 miles)
A fun bike/ferry commute to Bainbridge for a gig.
Great rides with Jamie and Jessica.
😢
It is possible that I am misinterpreting where you were riding, but last Friday I rode from the waterfront to West Seattle and there was a bike path the entire way.
It is not super dangerous, they have been very good about maintaining a bike lane.
And the wild flowers are blooming!
I was pretty stunned when I saw it. I don’t know how long they flower but they are at peak bloom right now.
Thursday, May 1: looking pretty empty.
