Before this morning, Donald Trump had never used any form of "fuck," "bastards," or "Allah" on Truth or X (he has quoted others using the words).

Searching for the use of an apostrophe to shorten a word is tougher, but I can't find him ever doing it before.

I would dare the chairman to cry indecency over quoting the presdient's public and undoubtedly newsworthy remarks. But the president isn't hell bent on bankrupting me, so I get that your decision may be more complicated.

News media should publish Trump's statement as written. Broadcasters under FCC regulation should dare the chairman to cry indecency over quoting the presdient's public remarks. The language is newsworthy. Don't sanitize it.

Hair splitting over this CBS/FCC/Colbert thing. Maybe it's easier to think of in terms of another FCC regulation: indecency.

The FCC doesn't censor. Networks censor because if they don't, the FCC can fine them. Who is driving the censorship? The one administering the punishment.

CBS says that The Late Show didn't want to provide equal time. But all the network had to do is give candidates late night airtime on a few Texas affiliates. The rule doesn't require Colbert interview them all... did CBS?

You can tell the rage baiters were counting on Bad Bunny doing something overtly anti-American and were left with "he sang in Spanish." Real old man yells at cloud vibes over there today.

Last year's Super Bowl was also a blowout and set a viewership record anyway. I doubt this one gets there for two reasons:

1. Not close to the same star power as Eagles v. Chiefs

2. No free stream to pad the numbers (last year's got an extra 13.6 million from Tubi)

I'm deeply offended. I was promised my all-American halftime show would be in ENGLISH!

After FOX drew widespread criticism for their totally redesigned minimalist score bug at last year's Super Bowl, NBC plays it safe. Rounded some edges but otherwise the graphics package is unchanged.

Believe it or not, this will be Mike Tirico's first Super Bowl from the play-by-play chair.

He took over for Al Michaels after the 2022 game. Then FOX got 2 of the last 3 as NBC lined up its Super Bowl rotation with the Winter Olympics in the new NFL rights deal.

You don't have to pay to watch the Super Bowl!

You don't have to bootleg the Super Bowl!

NBC is an over-the-air broadcast network!

It's what that antenna on your parents' ancient Magnavox is for!

Biggest reason you're watching the Super Bowl tonight:

The ads?
The halftime show?
A party?
The game itself?

No polls here, so just reply with your answer!

The Super Bowl was one of my favorite Twitter experiences. This year I'm trying it out here. Show me what you've got, Bluesky. Let's make some second screen magic.

NBC appears to cut crowd’s booing of JD Vance from Winter Olympics broadcast The US vice-president, JD Vance, was greeted by a chorus of boos during when he appeared at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan on Friday

NBC cut the Milan crowd booing JD Vance in its tape delay of the Opening Ceremony.

Not about appeasing Trump. NBC's Olympics coverage has been wall-to-wall nationalism for decades. They won't air a thing in primetime that makes the US look less than gold.

What a tragic exemplar of the shift in our country the last decade: One of the richest men in the world went from saving a great newspaper and investing in its public service to tanking the whole enterprise because he couldn't stomach perspectives that weren't his own.

Y'all sure seemed to enjoy convincing yourselves Donald Trump was dead last night. Is pissing on a grave you fantasized part of the moral superiority of this place, or no?

Army went 12-2 last season and didn't sniff the CFP. They're better served by the exclusive broadcast window.

The 60 Minutes CECOT piece was originally scheduled to air in the prized broadcast window after a late afternoon NFL game on CBS.

Today is the first Sunday all season that CBS has no NFL games. And 60 will go directly against a playoff game on NBC. Millions of viewers lost.

Rare a story fits so neatly in my sports media + 1A law sweet spot.

No, the president can't dictate a broadcast window for a football game.

But he doesn't have to. It'd be terrible optics for ESPN to counter Army-Navy with a CFP game. It won't happen. Now Trump can take credit.
